Sok - Sounds like Josh has an ear infection. K was chronic with them; constant crying, night waking, ear tugging and poking, and blood and pus discharge from his ear. Eventually he had to have tubes in both ears, so I feel your pain! Hope the doctors can sort you both out :)

Not so much as too many thoughts, but trying to organize the thoughts I already have. Managed to have nap this afternoon, as BIL offered to come round with his little brood :)

Shit. I've forgotten it's DH's 30th birthday on Saturday. What can I do with 4 days notice?!

Moonpig a card, or whatever equivalent they have in Germany - ESP one of dh with all the kiddies on a photo card.

30 small gifts? Favourite sweets, drinks, coffee, treats? I saw some fab things on Pinterest, stuff like a box of lollipops saying 30 sucks, 30 blows (bubblegum), 30 rocks - rock sweets/sticks of rock.

Joshua doesn't have an ear infection as such. At least it's not an inner ear infection and hopefully we can keep it that way. Apparently a spot just in his ear far enough we'd not see ourselves has popped and is manky. So we've got ear drops to see of we can keep full infection away. I've a 'viral' sore throat. I know it will turn to tonsillitis, I can feel it. But until it does I've got a lovely (ineffective) spray to try.

MultipleMama · 02/07/2014 18:05

Aww, bless him. I hope the spot clears up soon, the poor thing. I always find that funny with doctors; they say it's just a viral infection but until it gets worse they won't treat you whereas if they just gave you it in the first place it wouldn't have gotten as bad....

DH is pretty excited about turning 30 so the "30 rocks" idea is pretty cool idea! Think I'm gunna take him out for lunch, bake a cake, and then have a "mini" party all 8 of us with the "30 rocks" idea - because no doubt the family will make a fuss on Sunday, then I'm gunna get a babysitter for the night, and then take DH for a scene Grin

Soks have you tried gargling with soluble aspirin? I have suffered with tonsilitus since I was 4 and its the only thing that works. I can`t keep my eyes open........zzz zzzzzzz zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz!

triplets · 03/07/2014 00:24

Still not able to sleep. Kept tossing and turning. I'm so sleep deprived it took me over 5 minutes to count how many lollypop sticks I needed to help K make a stick man body, I dropped a 6 pinter bottle of milk and got it everywhere, I dropped a bowl. DH has even called in sick and sent me back upstairs. It's 7.30am I've only been "up" 2 hours and I still can't sleep. Going to try and force myself though. I'm exhausted but can't nod off. A vicious circle!

Well, awake once more.

Managed a 4 hour nap this afternoon (DH just popping the twins on my boobs for feeds instead of waking me which was very much appreciated). He ran me an essential oil bath then gave me a massage and some warm milk, did all the kid's supper and bedtimes. I was asleep when he came to bed but my beautiful demanding 9mo son woke me up with his incessant screaming with DH trying to calm him. An hour later and 3 of us are still awake...

Trips- sorry you had a crappy time over here, and it sounds like dk need a good kick innthe knackers.
Mama- glad you got a little sleep
((((shabbs)))))
soks- gargling with soluble asprin is a very good idea. The trouble with vira troat infections is that antibiotics do not work, they just help build resistance for the future.
chops-you ok out there??
Well, just had another blow - Suffolk county council have announced a zero tolerance to kids having breaks during term time, and said they will fine both parents £60 per child per absence period. If they go through with this, we will be looking at a £1960 bill for taking the boys out of school for 4 days in OctoberSad Sad Sad
The school say they have little say in things now, and, even though they initially said they wouldn't take action, which was why I booked our holiday, they now say they can't guarantee the council will not fine us.
What do we do? Go and risk a fine we cannot pay, or cancel and lose the cost of flights and deposit. We can try and fight this, (my boss has already said she will write a letter stating I cannot take annual leave during the school holidays this year), or say the boys sre sick those 4 days, and hope for the best, or try and shortened down our holiday to just 8 days, which includes paying to change flights and bookings etc.
We have never taken the boys out of school in term time before, but we need this holiday.

MultipleMama · 04/07/2014 03:37

Awake and browsing online. Bad idea.

OP posts:
Chopstheduck · 04/07/2014 06:33

Bubby, I would be very tempted to say they were sick tbh. With the zero tolerance thing, it's the only way you can be sure to avoid the fine, and it seems very unfair that they brought it in after you booked, there needs to be a period of adjustment, surely!

My older two were 'sick' a couple of weeks ago. I had those free sun tickets to Chessington on a weekday and it was their birthday treat. With money gone so tight, it was the only way I could afford for them to go out. The dts may be 'sick' so we can watch the tour de france in London too!

I'm busy training for my triathalon cycle thing next weekend. Had a lovely ride out with a ladies cycling group yesterday and today I am meeting with the lovely lady who is doing the swim leg for some cycle/swim training together.

MultipleMama · 04/07/2014 06:56

Bubby I'd take them and tell the school they're sick. They can't possibly expect you to change things with such sort notice, likes Chops said, there should be an adjustment period.

I'd say they've got chicken pox or something Grin 4 days out of education is not going to destroy their future or wipe out 5+ years of learning... The goverment are losing their marbles if they think 1 day or 1 week is going delay their education - they should focus on something more important like funding and better interactive ways to keep kids interested.

So DH and I talked and tonight I will be sleepinh in the twins room and DH will be doing the night shift with the devil child BlueA.

Today is going to be a lazy day consisting of frozen meals and disney movies well until afternoon where I need to pop into the town to get things ready for DH's mini b.day supper.

Minisoksmakehardwork · 04/07/2014 08:20

Oh bubs! Our school advised us that fines had only been implemented when the ewo was involved, which didn't happen until attendance dropped below 83%. Might be 82%. We have similar. In dh's leave year for this leave year (runs march-march), they've not given him any school holiday leave, even though you have to put down 3 choices of dates for summer and winter leave. Dh out down all combinations for summer holidays and they've given him the 2 weeks before term finishes. We are taking the risk and taking the dc for a week as we won't get away otherwise. We've enlisted dh's manager for support if needed, inc dh's original leave app and what they actually granted him - kind of let the lea argue it out with HMPS given work know dh has a young, school aged family and insists that two weeks twice a year must be taken together. So dh couldn't book 4 single weeks spread out more to try and get any school holiday. Plus with James' issues, going during peak time isn't exactly ideal anyway. But I don't know whether we'd get away with that one.

Had his reception induction evening last night. Good chat with teacher and head, so they're coming to our next fsp hopefully. Especially as we were late because James was in chaos over shoes of all things.

bubby64 · 05/07/2014 00:04

DH is really worried about the boys being "sick" he said he doesn't want it yo be challenged and we get fined anyway. I am going to speak to their headmistress on Tuesday to see what she says, I have the letter stating i can't take A/L during the school holidays, and my GP has said she will support me if necessary too, as she feels I need a break and something to lok forward to.
I have had to go and see her again as the chest infection/pleurisy I have had is not resolving as well as she hoped as I am so run down. I am on my 3rd lot of antibiotics, I am again on high dose steroids and a new type of inhaler, but my 2nd chest xray is still not clearSad . Mind you, i continue to work, as I have already taken 4 days off sick, and I can't afford to miss any more time. My boss has been good tho, and is now giving me a regular 2 week rota, and when its my weekend to work, I do 1 night shift(which is a lighter workload, and I tend to stay awake before and after) then 2 long days in the week, and 3 long days the next week.

Good morning ladies............I am in bed but wide eyed, wound up after the football! Been a real scorcher here today, should have spent it on the beach instead of painting and ironing! Hope you all got some sunshine today, we have rain forecast for tomorrow! Night night all. xx

triplets · 05/07/2014 00:10

Oh Bubbs poor you...........you sound so run down, you need that holiday. Where are you going?

Chopstheduck · 05/07/2014 06:52

oh Bubs :( Good luck with that chat, hope you get something sorted.

Rain here today! Really enjoyed cycling and swimming in the sun yesterday. Today looks like it will be a quick run then pottering around at home.

triplets · 05/07/2014 07:10

Morning..........throwing it down, hairdressers this morning so have got to go to town. Dragged the suitcases out of the loft y/day to start a bit of packing.........our luggage labels were still on from our last big adventure, our 4 week road trip to the West Coast in Aug 2007. Made me feel really sad to think that those days are over, there is no way dk could do it now :( I would so love to go back, my heart is in America. Still we are off to Pollensa on the 15th, will be nice to go back though there are many many memories. Chops youll know this, we are flying with Monarch and all I have is an email with our flight details, they dont issue proper tickets.............doesn`t seem the same to me! Do you just buy and put on your own luggage labels these days then? They used to come with the tickets. Feeling very out of touch!

Rubester how lovely to see you :) Oh gawd I don`t know about boarding passes, do you do that all yourself these days? Better hot foot to the travel agent this morning! I used to be so good at all this stuff, life before cancer!!

triplets · 05/07/2014 07:28

Hows life with you Ruby ,what are your darling dcs doing now, lost track of how old they are. Are you going away?

Chopstheduck · 05/07/2014 07:57

Trips

online check in is here, but it's only free if you paid for allocated seats, otherwise you can jsut check in at the airport like normal.

It has all changed so much. Last time I flew I had the boarding passes on a phone app! Just go to check in as usual, if you need boarding passes they will print them for you, and they will do the luggage too.

I want to go back to America too! DH wankery brother was in New York last week. Even though they are 'too broke' to give dh the money for his car that we lent him and they sold on. We shan't be going anywhere this summer unless I get a last minute win. But I have been saving up various little ticket wins and looking out for freebie courses for the kids so have some nice plans to do at home with them.

Not sure who else has kids at the right age group, but Tescos are running free [[http://tesco.letsgetcookingathome.org.uk
cookery courses]], and Apple are running free media courses. Tesco also do free football skills lessons, and Halfords do free cycle maintenance days,

Hey Rubes! Hope you are well xx
