Support with Triplets

Hello

I am new on Mumsnet and trying to find some support and help for my good friend who lives in the Inverness area with new triplets (girls). Her family don't live locally and hubbie is at work.

I live a long way from Inverness so cannot help myself unfortunately.

Can anyone offer any advice please.

Contact local college whee they do childcare courses, they need placements for students in people's homes who are studying to be nannies etc. usually 2 days per week for 1-2 terms. They may no nothing about babies on starting and cannot be left in sole charge. But for an extra pair if hands, godsend.

Mothers help also worth considering

Thank you very much for your prompt answer givemeaclue. I have contacted Inverness College and am waiting to hear back from them. I hope they can help. Your advice is most helpful and an extra pair of hands would be a godsend and exactly what is needed. I will look into Mother's help's as well.

Do you have Homestart in Scotland ?
My friend with triplets was told she'd qualify for some support from them.

Her local sure start centre should be able to help. If they are a forces family saffa are fab x

Thanks you BackforGood and loopybear. I have already spoken to Homestart on a number about 15 miles from Inverness. Sadly they don't cover Inverness at present. I have just found Netmums in Scotland, so will have a look on there. Thanks for the one in Stirling, willl have a look at that as well thank you! I will also have a look at sure start.

I can't begin to perceive how people cope with tiny triplets. I mean, I know they do, but it must just be exhausting.

I know what you mean, it can be challenging enough looking after one baby, never mind three. After making some calls following on from your very helpful answers, I am now waiting for a Children and Family Resource Officer to call me back. Fingers crossed.

Well, I have just heard back from the Officer who advises there is help from sources in Inverness via the health visitor. This is a great relief to hear and I will now ring my friend with the good news.

Do all colleges doing childcare need home placements??? I'm only having twins but have 3 other los to look after too. Dh will have to go back to work relatively soon afterwards and an extra pair of hands would be imense.

My triplets were 16 in January. Life was so much easier and less stressful when they were babies/toddlers than it is now! This teenage stage has definitely been difficult and stressful, esp as their Dad has been so ill. Tell your friend to accept all the help that is offered!
