There is definitely 2, maybe 3 sacks

I am 5+2 weeks pregnant and had some bleeding on Sunday. NHS Direct told me to make an appointment with my GP on Monday, so I did. The GP didn't seem overly concerned but made me an appointment at the EPAU for Wednesday. So at the EPAU yesterday, an external scan didn't show anything but internal scan showed "definitely 2, maybe 3" sacks. No heartbeats as too early. Then I was told to come back in 2 weeks. And that was it.

I'm shit scared of twins, never mind triplets!!

I don't mean to sound heartless but you are under assessment with the EPU for bleeding that for many women may be an indication of miscarriage. The thought of twins or triplets might frighten you and for that I sympathise, but ultimately let's just hope that the bleeding is not an indication of miscarriage and that the pregnancy continues to progress well. 5+2 is still early days.

Okay maybe I shouldn't have posted. Apologies. I have sad experience of the EPU and I have just noticed this has been posted in multiple births And not conception. Apologies. I hope everything turns out well for you.

I have triplets and have found the experience great, tiring, but wonderful

Aw, don't be scared of multiples! I had my scan when I was 6+1 because they thought I might have an ectopic pregnancy (lots of cramping), and when they told me it was two sacs and told me to come back in 2 weeks for confirmation, I almost fell off the chair. Since then, though, I've had my adorable twin girls and it's just wonderful being a twin mum. Hard, but you just make it work like you do with a singleton. Fingers crossed all goes well and you have healthy babies at that appointment in 2 weeks!

The first few months are hard work, made much easier if you've got people around to help. My girls have just turned one and I feel very lucky to have them. There's lots of lovely things about twins - it can take a while to get used to the idea though! All the best for the next scan.

OP think its perfectly natural to be v scared - I was terrified when I found out I was having twins at 8 weeks .... Currently 19 weeks and still a but terrified but also really really looking forward to them arriving. Prob took me about a month to get used to the idea of having 2.

Good luck with your appt

Having twins is a crazy surreal experience and having had 2 sets I can agree that it is hard work but doable! :)

Congrats and hope your scans goes well! You are incredibly blessed to have either twins or triplets! I would have loved triplets! :)
