Potty training twins!

Hi ladies,

Some advice please.

My ID twin girls are 2 years 5 months. Strong minded independent girls they are too and have been showing all the signs of being ready for potty training. I successfully and speedily potty trained their elder brother and sister so you would think I'd be a bit more sure of myself!

Today is day 5 and we have no success at all apart from the odd fluke, they seem a bit nervous and although happily sit on the potty/toilet, they have a wee only when they are off - almost like they are holding it until they are dressed again.

Is it too soon? Or am I being too impatient??

Do they get off and wee some where else ?
One of mine did, he had his "wee corner" that he would go to after sitting on the potty .

I bribed him with stickers and he came round and weed in the toilet / potty from then on.
It sounds like you have been there got the t shirt though, could be that they are just not ready, my 2 were 3 when we did it.

You may be right Arya all they have achieved over the last 5 days is an impressive ability to hold their wee until they have their knickers pulled up again, then gush! I can take a hint, back in nappies for a while longer!

I would stop completely and try again in about a month. My dtd was 2.8 months and dts has just got it in the last week nearly 3.

I am a firm believer that if you wait until they're ready it isn't that hard.

What happens if you just let them bimble about bare-bummed?

ie- could the knickers be confusing them? My 2 and a bit year old is great at getting to the potty if bare-arsed, but has occasional accidents when wearing pants. I think he forgets he's not in a nappy.

Thank you for the advice everyone . I am going to give it another go in a few weeks, but just leave the potty's around for them to feel familiar with and sit on if they want to.

MakesAMess If I let my two monkeys bimble about with bare bums, it would be hilarious, but also very wet in my house I think. Plus, the older two (aged 4 and 6) just wouldn't be able to resist joining in the naturism. Chaos. Funny, but chaos!

My grandmother was very disapproving that Ds was still in nappies at nearly 3. She told me repeatedly that her twins were toilet trained by 15 months. I just said thank heavens for disposable nappies and no hurry for potties now.

Would you consider doing them separately? I have twins (boy girl so not identical) and I couldn't have coped with all the mess doing them together. Is one showing more signs of readiness than the other?

mammmamia Thats exactly what I have decided to do when I try again!

One is less nervous of the potties, so I will put her in knickers with the other in pull ups, she may want to join in with the potties with her sister but the pressure will be off me. When I tried before it was a bit frantic with one needing a wee quick and dribbling down her leg while I was still cleaning up her sister.
