Cot recommendation?

I am looking to buy a cot for my twins (due next month). There seems to be so many different types out there-can anyone point to what I should be looking for? Thank you

I would get a cot bed rather than a cot of they are going to share. With a drop side and three position base.

We used cot beds for our twins too - they were in them until they were 5 yrs old in fact, until they moved into single beds.

Initially we placed them side by side at one end, then head to head and they probably only moved into a cot bed each when they were about 4 or 5 months (can't remember, it was a while ago!)

If you don't mind, you could get second hand ones and spend the money on new mattresses. Also, spare yourself the time and get fitted sheets rather than flat sheets!

We went for cots and plan to go straight into single beds at around 3 years. We got a Mothecare Takeley cot. It is not an all singing and dancing cot but is exactly what we wanted.

Another vote for cot-beds. We bought two although one was in our bedroom (which they shared) and one in the nursery. We co-bedded them in our room until they were eight months. They are now in separate cot-beds in their own room. Although a bit more pricey than cots initially, we liked the idea of longevity. Also smaller than two single beds so they should be able to continue to share a room until they are four-ish. I also agree to definitely go for a design with a drop side. But it depends on how much space you have etc.

We had cots - we had them sharing in one in our room at first (would never of fitted a cot bed in there!) and then in their own cots in their room at 6 months. They are coming out of them this weekend into 'big girl beds' at 2.6yo.

I think it depends how much space you have but def get a drop side and a three level base whatever you do. I never used the drop side but the gp's have found it really useful when they help out. The three level base means they can be up nice and high esp. useful if you have a section.

I got the basic JL Anna cots, not cot beds. They shared for the first three months, side by side, we didn't bother with Moses baskets (just used the pram carrycots during the day). They were not massive cots so it meant that we could fit both into our room. We eventually kicked them out of our room at 7.5 months.

Nice big cot beds. They co-slept for 4 months in a cot in my room then because they moved around so much in their sleep they went into a cot each then into their room. Still in the cot beds now and they are 26mths

I just went for second hand with new mattresses, saved lots of money and the wooden frames just needed a wipe down. I'm glad because after a short time ended up bedsharing so we could all get enough sleep and I could breastfeed - things don't always work out as planned!

We just went for a pair of cheapie Ikea cots with decent mattresses. It depends if you want to have the cot with a drop side to put next to your bed or anything - as we bottle fed and had one with reflux, and had to get them out of bed for night feeds anyway, it didn't matter. When they were a little older we did night feeds with them lying down in their cots (I would just get them lying on their backs and then stand between the cots with a bottle in each hand) - I think we are like the only people who did that though. Other twin mums look at me like I'm mental when I tell them that. Well, it takes half as long!

Another vote for cot bedsthey're bigger (good for sharing) and a lot cheaper than investing in expensive specialty twin sleeping kit! We kept one in our room where they slept together for the first 4 months, then we moved them into their own room and into two separate cot beds. Planning to use them through toddlerhood or until we have anotherset of twins--baby, at which point we'll probably switch to bunk beds.

Our 17 month old boys share an Boori Urbane Oak cot bed (still in cot mode; stage 2), we have a spare one for when/if they decide they no longer want to share. They've co-slept/shared since birth so they hate sleeping a part. There is still plently of room in the cot and I'm pretty sure they'll share the cotbed (stage 3) too :)

All depends on if they can sleep together not all twins can due to different sleeping patterns and temperment. Good luck :)
