Very, very computer savvy Rubes. I will suggest that to him...if I say STUFF on the computer he will give me the 'look' and say 'I know what you mean just wish you did Grin!!

We are going into Bolton afterwards because, apparantly 'I've got no tshirts for my holidays Mum!!!' I KNOW he has and they will be festering away in a smelly heap somewhere - oh the joys of mucky teenage lads!! He has 20 quid his Grandad gave him so we are going to Primark. He is also calling into Game, Cash convertors - in fact anywhere where they do anything to do with Computer games, music, etc etc. He says he doesn't care how many say no he is still going seeing them every week until they 'give in!!!' ROFL. He says his last resort is Mcdonalds......ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha - I suggested the open air Market - especially the fish stall

I've just found a huge stash of sweet wrappers in dd's room. She is starting to really fill out and moaning that she is constantly hungry - obviously she already found her own solution to this!

How much do teens eat? I added up her cals from yest, and it totalled 1900. And that was with what I considered a huge dinner (toad in the hole, 2 sausages, quarter roasting tin of yorkie, huge pile of mash, cabbage, leeks and gravy). Am I starving her?? I would have struggled to eat all that.

Tbh I've been worried about the filling out, she isn't fat, but she has nice curves now, and doesn't need to gain any more, so I've been watching her diet a bit more carefully.

Morning..........what a chatty lot you are this morning! Rubes I can see Rebecca being like you were, she wants to go to art college and we already have the heavy khol liner!! God knows what I am going to do with three of them, she will be happy floating around looking important, James I am still hoping will join the Royal Marines and as for Thomas........not a clue! I myself went to a secondary modern which I loved and was a good all rounder, would loved to have stayed on but at 15 it was out the door and find a job My eldest brother though was allowed to go to college! I have no regrets though, I worked in the fashion industry in a very posh store in Canterbury and loved it, even did some modelling!! Had money in my pocket and took myself off to foreign shores in the early 70s and had a ball My 4 brothers were totally boring and never ventured anywhere until much later on. Two of them have always said they dont see why I love America so much, they say they "dont fancy it".............<img loading="lazy" class="inline-flex mumsnet-emoji" alt="Hmm" src="https://www.mumsnet.com/build/assets/hmm-PR4o6B1t.png"> I have just phoned the travel agents to see what flights are available for Aug, Spain prob. I am in a quandary because I know or latest car is really too small, do we spend money and upgrade, I am desp to have a new kitchen, really dont want to spend the next 20 yrs looking at this one..........and I want a decent holiday. I still have Mums money which is gradually frittering away, but I can`t afford to blow it all as I have three children to support................hmmm. Anyway how lovely to sit here when I should be working having a nice chat to you all :)

shabbatheGreek · 11/07/2013 09:55

If you want my opinion Trips I would chose the holiday.....but there again I am NOT to be trusted when it comes to decisions like this Grin Other stuff is irrevelvant to me.

Trying to sort a day out at the seaside for my parents.....all they are longing to do is sit on the benches at Southport beach and watch the world go by. I know that Macmillan do full day trips and told Dad. His reply 'Dont want to go on a trip to the seaside with any old people or anybody who is ill!!' Dad is 81 on Sunday and very poorly!!! So....I am going to contact them, find out the details, book it for while we are away and pay for it for his birthday pressie. When they go with all the other poorly, elderly folk i wont be in this country so I wont get told off till I come home ROFL!!

I'd probably go for the holiday tbh - I'm a big believer in things come and go, but memories last a lifetime! I remember growing up and my parents spending lots of money on lovely furniture, which is now dated and worn, and never having a holiday. I think they do regret it a little.

We should really be saving for the car rather than going to california, but things will work out somehow, they usually do.

MultipleMama · 11/07/2013 10:45

Morning you lot!

I still wear the Khol liner! So does DH when he's not in his stuffy work suit! You should see the shocked look he gets from colleagues when they see him out of hours; liner, tattoos, skin tight jeans! Haha.

Trips - Take the holiday! Haha.

Chops - Hold is DD. And adult females is 2000, adult males is 2500 and children (5-10years) is 1800.

Shabs - very sweet but sneaky of you! Haha. I wonder what your dad's reaction will be. Lol.

Today, I will hand in my notice at work and Skype DH's parents and tell them the good news... and my dad the bad news. Being away from him is going to bloody suck the most.

MultipleMama · 11/07/2013 10:46

Chops - That was meant to say "how old" where to frick did "hold" come from lol

MultipleMama · 11/07/2013 13:40

Just told friends and family the news, and contacted FIS. Feels too real now. Hope to be in Germany before Christmas but time will tell.

Chopstheduck · 11/07/2013 14:45

oh wow, so you will be there in time for the markets! I am very envious, I really loved Easter in Germany, all the painted eggs decorating the trees!

We had a fab holiday there once, I really want to go back some time. It was a camp site in the middle of forest, halfway between Hamburg and Hannover. Everyone was very friendly, the family next door pratically fostered dd for the week, and she was over there for breakfast every day. Plus there was big camp fires in the evening, german bingo, and the funniest stand up routine I've ever seen on a campsite - I nearly peed myself!

Loved the food too - there was a strange bread on sticks thing over the bonfire which i've never seen anywhere else. And the german cakes and gingerbread! And those potato dumpling type things. I found a new german deli last time I was in London actually, and got a packet mix to have a go at making them at home.

dd is 13 :)

MultipleMama · 11/07/2013 17:11

We try and go once a year to see DH's family and I adore his mama's Lebkuchen bars and Black Forest cake! I love the markets and Easter displays. This will hopefully be the kids first Xmas there.

Dad is upset but knows this is what we want and I've promised him he can skype the kids everyday and visit every Christmas, b.days and we'll visit him. I think not being able to see the kids every week has upset him the most.

Chopstheduck · 11/07/2013 17:16

aww it will be hard. Will he maybe have them to stay sometimes as they get older? My parents were so upset when we moved away from Norfolk. That's only 200 miles, but it did mean they only get to see them a couple of times a year rather than a couple of times a week. We had to move because it was best for the family, better job opportunities, better schools, safer area, so many reasons. We've been down south east since R was 4 and J was 2. Having said that, the kids do go up there to stay about once a week, which increased to a fortnight from last year and they make the most of that.

Chopstheduck · 11/07/2013 17:17

I love the strawberry cakes, and the apricot ones. Everything! They are so light and airy. Lidls did sell frozen versions for a while, but then stopped, I guess there wasn't the call for them.

MultipleMama · 11/07/2013 19:48

We've told him he can have K and Aubrey for a couple weeks in summer holidays and make visits every other month for a weekend and visa versa and he can have the twins as well others when they start First Steps. He sees has them twice a week so it's gunna be a shock to kids as well. However, I'd like them to get know their other grandparents.

And brush up their German. K is almost fluent.

The job is more beneficial. DH will work less hours, earn more, and have more time with kids.

I love, love German food!

Sokmonsta · 11/07/2013 19:57

I think I've lost the thread completely right now! But if I've got it right we've got secondary and college starters and then a move to Germany? All sounds good to me. Exciting new challenges ahead. Anything else I've missed (trying to read and ignore dc upstairs destroying bedroom)?

James is being referred to a pediatrician. We've just completed another assessment for him. We did it last year and he's come out with pretty much the same results so hasn't really progressed from being a 2 year old. He isn't performing as well for gross and fine motor skills plus is more emotionally immature than they would expect at his age. Yet he is bright as a button when it comes to conversation he's interested in! Weird.

The twins are giving me great joy. Had them out in the sandpit/garden on Tuesday. They came in having eaten a lot of sand and thoroughly filthy. But very happy. Twin group in Wednesday was fun as Joshua likes climbing their little chairs. He explored everywhere, toddling around before stopping with a bump and then carrying on again. Next month we are meeting for a picnic instead so looking forward to that.

Emily is enjoying rainbows thoroughly and came home with another badge today, for the archery they did last week. And I'm still trying to work out if I volunteered myself to be a general volunteer or the actual pack leader!! Will find out in due course. Either way I'm happy. Dh and I talked about it when Emily joined as I gave up guides as a teen due to peer pressure and have regretted it ever since. He said if it gives me something outside home to enjoy then he supports that. He has his own club he goes to regularly so this will be no different really.

I love German desserts and my MIL homemade cooking. I may ask her to cook for me and send over frozen food for freezer haha. Seen a gorgeous Villa online 5 bedrooms/open plan, great garden. Sent them an email for my information to show DH. Can't wait to head out in August and house hunt.

Ruby - It's hard but we skype often and have monthly phone calls, so it's not like we're distant, we're actually pretty close. I am named after my father after (I have the long name to prove it haha). My brother moved to Russia, my Grandparents are in Russia, my Dad in UK and DH's family in Germany. Talk about multi-culture!

DH told me he's actually looking forward to being in his home town but his sexuality is a bit taboo with his parents so he's not look forward to those conversations. Secretly I know he misses home.

Hello, Soks!! Glad to hear the your news. Your LOs sound brilliant :)

13 more sleeps girls....have had my hair chopped within an inch of its life PMSL. First time for years I have short hair. When I came out of the hairdressers it looked like they had been shearing sheep because of all my hair on the floor.

Its rather bloody lovely.

I've promised myself that I am going to make Sunday Roast every week because I refuse to convert fully to German food! Haha.

He is bi-sexual, his parents are very traditional and once he married me they thought that the whole "liking boys" thing was just a phase after all. But he's told them, made sure they understood but oh well. It's now a "you don't bring it up, we won't, and will not talk about it" thing when in their home.

triplets · 11/07/2013 23:58

Evening all, just in from a boozy book club meeting, its so good to be out of here for a few hours with friends. They are a great bunch and we have such a laugh! Mama you are very open and honest and sharing, did you know from the beginning? You seem much older than your 23 years, and seem to cope with everything so well, I am sure when I was that age (a very long time ago) I wouldn`t have ...........I do hope everything works out for you in Germany. I must confess I too am not a lover of German food...........except for their sausages!!

triplets · 11/07/2013 23:59

Shabs......can we see the new hair please?? But not the tassels :o

shabbatheGreek · 12/07/2013 00:08
