shabbatheGreek · 20/02/2013 09:05

Oh my word - we have had three days of very mild temperatures and beautiful sunshine. Just been outside and its freeeezing!! Maybe that was our Spring???

bubby64 · 20/02/2013 09:42

Beautiful day yesterday, freezing fog today.
Awake most of night, foot causing a lot of pain, as swelling so much caste is too tight, got to go back to clinic today for it to be looked at. rang them this morning to tell them I have reduced sensation in toes, a lot of pain, and swelling and silly bint asked " have you taken pain relief?" eerrr, yes!, "have you had your foot elevated?" err, of course! AngryAngry Also, J awake in night, severe earache, so DH has had to take J to drs this morning (now on ABs) and me back to fracture clinic this afternoon. Not only is his work not happy, but also its his birthday, he hasnt even had time to open his cards or pressiesSad

Morning!

Bubs, room is an issue with separating the twins at the mo. that and a lack of second cot. But I'm in the process of getting rid of all the crap in ours and the kids' room so we can do a swap. I wanted to do it half term but it just didn't happen.

They have sleeping bags, they are brilliant aren't they? We discovered them with our first and we've only recently had to throw our very first bag away as the zip broke and tore the bag :(

We had a better night last night thankfully. The babies both ate very well (wondering if perhaps they've been hungry/my cooking didn't agree with them while digesting) and even had a 2 hour nap between 4-6. For them up, changed into nightwear. They had a little play, their milk and were back in bed by half 7. So the other thing I thought was Jennifer in particular really might have been overtired. She normally has 2x 2 hours naps and a snooze between tea and milk/bed time. But lately she's not been having that last sleep. With her trying to crawl, she must be using up a lot of her reserves.

Both babies have been asleep in the pushchair since 9 today, still asleep now! But we have my niece's 13th birthday tea to go to later, and that will tire them both so I want them to sleep as much as possible before being mauled around by the bigger children. They mean well but don't understand that the twins shout and scream when they don't like it. The girls think they can settle them rather than leaving them alone!

Thanks for all good wishes. Went to clinic and they split the caste right down the middle, almost instant relief!!Grin now it is taped together, and can be reinforced in a week or so. I can now put weight through the footGrin
one good thing came out of this, as foot was quite dusky when I got there I had to have a doppler scan of circulation, and this meant we didn't leave hospital until 3pm, and when R rang work, they told him not bother going back, so he got some of his birthday off!
Got him a nice bit of steak for dinner, and choc birthday cakeGrin

Chopstheduck · 20/02/2013 22:26

Aww, bubby. Glad it better and enjoy your dinner!

Soks, mine slept separately from day 1, they disturbed each other too much.

Spent today mooching around museums, so lovely to be able to just mooch without kids to entertain! Off to our posh restaurant in a bit, navigating the snow in my heels is going to be interesting!

Ooo Rubes dying to hear your plans.......
Bubbs poor you, glad its better now and Happy Birthday to Mr Bubbs!
Eventually got to Nickys at 1pm and left at 6pm, it was sooooooooo good to see her, kids sat like zombies and hardly said a word, we both snatched a few private moments and had such a laugh. Walked to the field she owns to see her donkeys, haven`t seen them for 5 years so it was nice. She left a fab house 5 yrs ago and had to rehome temp alot of her animals but she is gradually getting them back. They are coming here for lunch on Frid, we go home on Sat. I must say I have never known such cold weather, I expected it to be milder in Cornwall but its freezing. Night all xxx

Morning. Stressed already. Dh tipped cereal all over/in our side table, well Joshua technically but dh's fault. He's gone to work in a poorly grump and I'm wondering why on earth I bother trying to tidy the house as he only moans that I've (through necessity) changed things and he wants the old coffee table back. Grr.

Off to mums for lunch today so plenty of fun and de-stressing there.

triplets · 21/02/2013 08:45

Goodmorning Shabs, morning girls..............what is it with these grumpy men, seems plenty of them around! The wind in the night howled through the lodge, it is freezing! I am glad we came away but when you add up the cost and are restricted what you can do because of the weather it spoils it. Its too cold on the deck to use the hot tub which was a big draw for coming here, that was to be my treat. Kids want to go to the zoo or Aquarium today, I feel like hibernating!

Chopstheduck · 21/02/2013 15:20

Morning girls x

Last day today, flying home this evening :( another very snowy day here, going to go out for a few hours now, maybe another museum or two.

Rubes I don't normally do heels neither, but the restaurant was very posh! It was an amazing experience, very theatrical, every two minutes bringing out another little nibble. Cheese cigars, smoked salmon in a book, dessert was apricot 'eggs' and meringue chips. Kinda Heston Blumenthal style, molecular and showy.

Why is this country such a rip off? I feel as though I have just wasted alot of money that could have gone towards flighs to America. As the week goes on my mood is sinking............we went to the Aquarium at Newquay, kids treat. Over £40 to get in, I suppose that sounds reasonable for 5 of us. We arrived at 11.45am and we had seen it all by 12.20am I kid you not. Then of course they were hungry, H had disappeared so off I went to the cafe only to find him sitting down with a coffee. I took one look at the state of the place, filthy, his coffee was disgusting and we left. Newquay town centre was revolting, run down, tatoo parlours, cheapo shops.................revolting. So we drove back to good old Tesco, spent another fortune on food and just had a late nothing special lunch. Its not a holiday and I know I prob sound miserable and ungrateful............but its just a change of 4 walls. I want to go home, I never ever say that when we are in America. Oh girls!

shabbatheGreek · 21/02/2013 16:04

Totally agree about 'rip off' Britain Trips. We live about half an hour from Blackpool & Southport. We never, ever go to either.

About 15 quid each on the train for day return. £25 - £35 for wrist bands for the fairground at Blackpool - you even have to pay a fiver if you dont go on any rides - just to walk around the Pleasure beach!!! Dont even get me started on how scruffy Blackpool is and how expensive food is there.

triplets · 21/02/2013 17:00

Its disappointing isn`t it, I came away really looking forward to a break, and I just feel we may as well have stayed at home, at home I only go to Tesco once a week, just had my 3rd visit It is a cae of 4 diff walls. Atm I am on m bed, dd is in her room listening to music, the 2 boys are in one lounge with the xbox and dk is in the other lounge reading................just like home only we only have one lounge!! I think I need a drink to cheer me up!

bubby64 · 21/02/2013 17:09

I agree Trips & Shabs. we have the same with Yarmouth or Clacton, just dont go there.
We regularly go to Little Clacton as FiL lives there, we never venture the next 2 miles down to the seafront. We prefer Aldborough, Felixstow, even Brightlingsea (where DH comes from) to the expensive pleasurebeach type places.
We went to the Aquarium at Hastings, that was the same. I think they are all run by the Merlin group arn't they? The same people who own Legoland, Chessington, Mdm Taussurds (?sp) and all those other expensive "family fun" places.
Trips - please don't feel so bad, you needed a change of routine in some way.
You can come an visit us down here in beautiful cold and foggy ATM Constable Country if you like, DH and you on our bedsettee, the triplets in out caravan on thr driveway, honestly, you would be welcome!Grin Wink

Chopstheduck · 21/02/2013 19:38

Montreal has been very expensive too, but I've enjoyed it and luckily some stuff was thrown in. Alcohol is horrendous - $50 for the cheapest bottle of wine last night! Even in the supermarkets can't get a bottle for less than $12. Been doing some last minute shopping soon be heading to the airport!

Morning........grey and windy, lovely............dare I risk the hot tub for the last time? Got Nicky and Peter coming up for lunch today so at least some company. I really really really need to re think so called family holidays, will be glad to go home. God I sound miserable. Trouble is we need to get away from each other, we are all tog 24/7, I miss company of others. I should get a job at a holiday camp...........kill 2 birds with one stone :o

Sokmonsta · 22/02/2013 08:11

Oh trips! It sounds like you could do with a week away on your own to recover! Is it possible for you to visit your friend a little more frequently for Girly weekends? Fly in to Newquay airport if you can get cheap flights maybe Instead of driving down?

I can understand the feeling of being completely hemmed in when you're together 24/7. Dh drives me batty when he's off work if we've nothing planned.

Today's mission here is a morning sorting out what passes for my make up collection. It's truly shocking and I don't think I even use 7/8 of it!

Also got my first 'raising boys' class. I'm looking forward to it but nervous about putting the babies in crèche. At very nearly 11 months this will be the first time they've spent with complete strangers and no familiar face. They're both also going through that separation anxiety stage so should be fun for crèche.
