does it get easier???

OK so am 6 weeks 4 days pregnant twins i have a 5 year old and 2 year old so happy and excited but so tired Sick and sore does it get easier please share your pregnancy story xx

Yes, my middle trimester was ok, though I was large, I didn't feel sick anymore. The final one was pretty hideous, but everyone's pregnancy is different. I would suggest getting your 2yr old used to a pre-school if poss. for a couple of mornings a week. It was a lifesaver for me (I had my twins a week before ds1 was 3), entertained him and stimulated him when I was a bit beyond it and then he kept going afterwards too, so he didn't feel immediately pushed out.

I was thinking about doing that how did he cope with your twins was he jealous at all?? X

He didn't seem jealous, but have realised with hindsight it deeply affected him. He's a very sensitive boy, though. He was always very affectionate to them. I have constantly tried to make him feel special and not second best, spent a lot of time with him, and 'dumped' twins more on other people. They seem a lot more confident and emotionally secure than him, maybe it's being second as well. It may be easier as your 2 yr old has never been the only one, and the 5yr old is a bit more grown up to handle it.

My 5yr old son is autistic but coped really well when my daughter came along as he is very loving I'm just worried as my daughter is a major daddy's girl long way off yet but just hoping she will be ok with it all x

The pregnancy got a bit easier from the four month mark as the sickness improved, but the end was tricky as I had SPD and pre-eclanpsia.

After they were born, the first seven months were just a treadmill of feeding / changing / looking after the toddler and pre-schooler, but things did turn a corner after about seven months and I was able to start to enjoy them as babies.

The next milestone when things got a bit easier was when the twins turned three and started pre-school a few weeks later: I had a few hours to myself for the first time in over seven years.

Now they are eight they are still more of a handful than the singletons, but they are also lovely.

I had awful morning sickness until about 18 weeks. Then things were ok(ish) and I enjoyed my pregnancy until 26 weeks. The last 9 weeks were just awful and I wouldn't ever want to do it again. Was like a whale and everything hurt.

My Dts are now 10 weeks old and things are hectic but it is so lovely having 2 babies.

My theory is that twin pregnancy is so bad because after they're out you feel amazing and looking after them is actually less hard than the pregnancy!

Merry I totally agree. My c section recovery was less painful than the last 9 weeks of my pregnancy. I had the best nights sleep the night of my section and could actually turn around in bed!

I know. Everyone kept saying how I was coping so well with the babies. I thought: this is nothing compared to the end of the pg when I hardly slept and had all sorts of itches etc. I think people found it hard to empathise with being hugely pregnant, but anyone who has had one baby can multiply it by 2 and empathise with that.

24 hours after my Caesarean I already felt better than I had done throughout the last month of the pregnancy!

Mine was necessary (dd was breach, and was the lower twin), but she actually moved in my 37th week! They gave me option of a natural birth then, but I'd already got my head around a c-section. It was fabulous...

I had an emergency section at 34+5 as twin1 had lost her fluid. Would have been a section anyway as both were breech.

I was 37 +4. They scanned me 3 days before the section when I went in for a blood test and said she'd turned since the scan a few days before that. I was all emotional, should I have a natural birth or not? Consultant helpfully said it was up to me. Nice midwife said I should go for the section - was so relieved and it was wonderful. Not sure I could've gone a day longer and waited till they came naturally. Also ds2 was very ill when born so not sure if he had that in utero or not, but if he did, he wouldn't have lasted I don't think.

Section was planned because presenting twin was transverse, but became more urgent as pre-eclampsia developed. I was told mid-afternoon that they'd be doing the op that evening. 35 weeks. Amazed I got that far as I was quite ill by then.

I felt better in the middle, but I generally found the tiredness more overwhelming than with my DD1. I went to 38 weeks + 1 and I did feel pretty dreadful by then. I had so many of the possible unpleasant pregnancy symptoms. I've always liked walking over taking the car, but for quite a while I felt I should qualify for a disabled parking space!
In better news, my DD1 coped really well with the new arrivals. She resented other adults who came in to help out and also wanted my attention, but she has generally been very affectionate towards the babies.
