Crawling twins help!!

Dts are nearly 10 months and crawling everywhere!

We have a playpen for when I need to leave the room, but they will not spend too much time in it, unsurprisingly..
I never went overboard with babyproofing with my older two, but then there was only ever one baby at the time.

Just wondered how others have tackled this without turning your house into a padded room?

I didn't go overboard with baby proofing either, but I did make sure everything at baby (and then toddler) level was 'safe'.

I didn't do padded table corners or socket covers (which are dangerous anyway), but I did make sure cables were tucked behind TV and they understood not to touch the TV from an early age.

Teach your babies how to climb down from the sofa carefully (backwards on tummy) so that when they inevitably climb up they can get back down.

Get stairgate a for rooms. I left my two alone while I went to answer the door/boil the kettle/to the loo, but with the doors open and stairgates closed between us. Then you can see/hear an dash back if anything goes wrong, but the room is safe anyway.

As long as anything dangerous to chew or pull is moved out of reach, a few bruises aren't the end of the world. They probably get a few more than singletons, but also probably learn to be careful quicker. It only seemed to take a couple of weeks with mine and the bumps stopped.
You can't twin proof them from each other either. I have more of a problem is stopping them whacking each other round the head with toys or poking fingers in each other eyes/nose/ears/mouths. I have a playpen but mainly use it to stop them from "helping" me change the others nappy.

I put some things up high and a stairgate on the living room door. I found dtd2 on the coffee table so now the little toddler chairs dd1 uses are kept in the kitchen as she'd moved it to the table to assist her climbing, but now at 15 months they seem better at not pulling everything down! I didn't babyproof my house much with dd1 but with these two I have a lot more (socket covers etc) as I sometimes have to help dd1 upstairs and taking twins with you everywhere is a pain. dd1 would sit in the kitchen and "help" me cook, but if dtds are happy playing I leave them while I cook just checking regularly, so easier to make living room a giant playpen. The playpen didn't work for us as they just cried.

Playroom with window in door means I can shut them in and peek in to check on them while cooking etc (door stair gate would be a better solution I suppose as then I could hear them. I only worry about the really loud screams/bangs.
And yes to twin proofing against each other! Have been known to put Ds in the pkaypen as he's the climber, dd outside to stop her getting beaten up.
They've been I'll for a week and they actually look better because they're not covered in bruises for once

Twelve you made me laugh! Mine two are starting to sport some very appealing bruises on their faces...we have hard floors poor mites!

Cables are a huge problem here... we seem to have hundreds of metres of them, everywhere, and I can't always hide them behind furniture.

Another bugbear of mine are radiator valves, which are metal, and shiny, and they look like they will be very painful to bump on, and of course are very attractive for nosy babies.
And drawers, lots of them! i really can't be bothered to put latches everywhere, as long as there's nothing dangerous or fragile inside. I imagine they will soon learn that closing a drawer on your hand hurts, right? Right?

Claire have you stolen my son? Ds is obsessed with radiators! And even if you turn down the temp of the rad the hot water pipe is still really hot.. Argh!

Ah radiators...something I never thought I would care about is now my massive worry. I was looking at radiators covers (I like the look of them anyway) but they are so expensive! I was feeling bad as have basically babyproofed my lounge with a stairgate at the door and am using this as a giant playpen with frequent checks (our house is quite open and small so can hear them) other than use the smaller playpen with screaming 'I'm a baby..get me out of here'. I'm assuming they will outgrow this and start playing happily in there again or it's in danger of becoming a glorified toy box...waste of bloody money grrr.

Regarding hard floors. My dt1 has a huge bruise on his knee from constantly crashing down after pulling himself up on the sofa and they have their check up tomorrow .

We moved things as and when we needed to, we ended up putting our TV on the wall and moved electrical appliances when I left them alone for 2 mins to pop to the loo and found them pulling the wires out of the back and trying to chew on them.

My 2 were quite happy to listen to the rules when some one is in the same room as them, but as soon as you leave they would go for it.

We found they would encourage each other and work as a team, I caught them draggin a toy box to climb on to forbbiden high up surfaces several times.

All in all we have been lucky injury wise, they always seem to have a fat lip and bumps on the head but nothing serious.....yet.
