Leaving twins overnight

Ok, we've passed a year - and I've been invited to a very cool party that will mean leaving the DTs overnight.
When did you do it, and who with? Doing tea/bath/bed for both singlehanded is a pretty stressful evening for me, and I'm used to it, so we can't ask MIL, my parents aren't so familiar with them, am sure friends COULD do it but it's a helluva ask.. so I'm going to have to ask our lovely nanny if she can work a weekend I think.
Advice, suggestions and notes to compare please!

Hi twelve!. My dts first overnight was when they were about 5 weeks old (I didn't breastfeed and sleep was needed badly!) they now have an overnight stay twice monthly once with my parents and once with my inlaws though we are all quite close and I would not even ask them to do it single handed. I've never had anyone else look after them as there is no need thanks to the wonderful grandparents but I know I am lucky (and a bit of a child abandoner ha ha!). The first time was hard but now I just make the most of the free time as they are always back the next day-I'm glad to see them! I would ask your nanny as you know you can trust her and she has them most anyway. Good luck and have a nice time!

My mother in law had them overnight the day of their first birthday party (which we had at her house as its much bigger than ours!). She's on her own so did it single handed but she had been begging us to let them stay. They all had a great time and they are going to have nanny sleepovers every month or so now. My mum, even though she has a partner would find it too stressful, she's great for babysitting, but after bed.

Any way you could do the bed routine at someone else's house and go out from there?

We did it at about 8-9 months, We got them ready for bed at home then took them to my sil's and she put them to bed.

My mum and her friend had my triplets overnight when they were only 3 months old, as SIL was getting married and we needed to go. They coped fine, although they were shattered when we got back and asked how the hell we did it all the time. Grin
