holidays and swimming pools

We're taking our almost one year olds on holiday in a couple of weeks, one is crawling and I think the other will be by the time we go. We're planning on spending quite a bit of time by the pool which is making me nervous!

We have the baby seats for if we take them in the big pool, but what about in the baby pool and by the side of the pool? Apart from watching them like hawks did any one use armbands / flotation suits so young?

We've never really spent time by the side of the pool but the baby swim seats work well in the baby pool ime. We found that they give enough support that if the baby can reach the bottom, they can have a great bit of independence by`walking'. Once our boys were happy on their feet on land, they much preferred being in armbands in the water because the baby seats were much too restrictive. My dd is almost 8months and getting ready for the move up to armbands, but they have all been to the pool pretty much weekly since 8wks old and are fairly water confident.

Will the pool be indoor or outdoor? If outdoor could you get one of those pop up beach tents or paddling pools and fill with toys, they might stay inside that for a while?

We're off on holiday today to Devon with our nearly 8mo twins, not crawling yet so I will just need to make sure they don't roll into the water!
