...When juggling kids, family, home, school and work?
I know, I know, feeble effort, but I really don't know where my year has gone! Its towards the end of February now, past half term for most of us, and I don't even seem to have blinked!
We were celebrating DH's birthday today, and I'm sure he had his last one only a couple of months ago, or thats how it seems to me.
As for the years since my 2 were born, well, they seem to have gone in a blink of an eye.

Morn Shabs.

Those pics of team Scholes are just fab aren't they! Poor Daniel tho, I had hoped they had settled the seizures, it's being going on for a whole now.

Going to try to find Shirley valentine online later so I can watch it! Another miserable day here stuck indoors

I hate to put Estars message on here - I really do.

'Today we received the worst news possible. The disease in Daniel's brain hasn't been halted by the bone marrow transplant but has spread more quickly around his brain, so that is what is causing his increased seizures and muscle weakness, not side effects from medicine as we'd hoped. At this point in time, there is no new plan the doctors can give us.'

I know Estar would be disappointed in me saying this but I have to 'Dont tell me there is a God...this family believe in him so much and live their lives in an amazing way. We have often talked about my loss of faith in any religion but, forgive me Estar when/if you read this.....How could a God let this happen?

Keep fighting Daniel. You are so brave. Holding you close in my arms and heart tonight, as always xxxx

Morning all,
Shabs- such sad news from EstarSad, Everyone was thinking things were looking up, then this bombshell hits!
Trips - Sorry to hear DK has been playing up, I know hehas good reason to be angry/scared/anxious, but no need to take it out on you, who has supported him through thick and thin. HaveThanks.
Ruby - so sorry to hear your news tooSad.
Chops - 1972- I was an 8yr old in horrible pudding bowl haircut, NHS glasses and with goofy teeth- thinking I looked the buisiness in my Bay City Roller 3/4 lenght white and tartan trews!
Had a bit of a wobble here too, M has been being bullied at school, subtle stuff, name calling, snide remarks, things thrown at him by "accident". He tried to tell a teacher, who wouldn't listen, said he was "telling tales". He didnt come home after school yesterday - Childminder questions J, who said "he was following me so slowly I went on ahead". She calls school and me, I go home, and we all search. Found him in Church, 2hrs later, sobbing his heart out.Sad
I have been to school, had it out with teacher and head, and, hopefully it will get sorted. Why are kids such shits to other who are slightly different to them!!

Oh Bubby - poor lad - have had this with our Tom. Its disgusting isin't it? His school did try their best and stamped it out - almost! I ended up grabbing the main culprit by the throat and threatening him myself - I was a bit heavy handed. He swore at me and threatened me but I did start the scuffle. Weirdly enough it stopped very soon afterwards. I dont recommend it but it works for me. Blush The bully does give me a very wide berth now - no idea why!!

Chopstheduck · 20/04/2012 11:36

Oh Bubby, poor lad, I hope it does get sorted now. Some kids really are little shits.

I had the NHS glasses too! Just ten years later WinkGrin

DS1 today is doing his strip act for the school talent show - singing along to I'm Sexy and I know it, LMFAO and stripping down to speedos. Grin I really hope it goes ok!!! He has had a lot of problems being bullied, cos of his sn, and I really worry about it starting up again. He loves to perform though!

Had dd's parents evening last night, not all good. She must be a full year behind in Maths and English. I really don't understand why they've waited so long to tell me about these issues. Top of the class in Music and Citizenship though! Smile

shabbapinkfrog · 20/04/2012 11:42

I would take Music and Citizenship over every other subject...every single time. My Matts famous words?? (they realised he was dyslexic after I had been telling them for 2 years) 'I cant wead (will try and write it how he said it), and I cant wite but Im not boffered - I can do sports and art and I wove kissing giwls and they wove kissing me!! There you go - sorted Grin

aww bless him, shabs!

I have an AIBU question.

My LL wants to update the fuse box. It's a loooong job 4-6 hours with no electric and it doesn't NEED doing, it's simply a recommendation.

I'm not very happy about it. Normally stuff gets done as cheaply as possible, and things dont get done unless they really have to be. She won't prune the trees that are growing into the phone cables, or redo the drive, which is eroding away to nothing.

So from my pov, I don't feel very willing to sit here for 6 hours with no electric having to keep an eye on an electrician to do a job on the house which is unnecessary at the present time, has absolutely no benefit to us at all. I wouldn't be able to go out, and with no electric I wouldn't be able to do any jobs in the house neither. Am I being unreasonable?

Chopstheduck · 20/04/2012 12:51

I would go out for the day, but the LL lives the other side of the country, so she can't deal with it and the estate agents don't manage the property. And I'm uncomfortable with the idea of letting the electrician in and leaving him here for 6 hours.

I guess that's what it's going to come down to tho, either I have to sit here and watch him, or I have to trust him. I'm not normally so wary, but there is something about this guy making me uneasy. For one thing, when he came to do the quote, he fixed a broken socket, turned the electrics off without asking, and then billed for the job together with a call out charge!

oooggs · 20/04/2012 12:52

oh dear not good news Sad I really feel for Estar and her family and feel helpless

bubby - that is dreadful, poor little lad Sad

I wasn't even a twinkle in 1972

dt2/ds2 ran into a wall yesterday afternoon and split his head open, it is glued and he seems fine

Searching around for some good news and dt1/dd starts Rainbows tonight but dt2 can't start Beavers for another year!!!!

OOggs- glad he is ok. Hope dt1 enjoys her Rainbows, my 2 loved Beavers and Cubs, but it has been a bit of an uphill struggle with Scouts.
Re bullying, biggest problem is that they are such short arses still! 1m41cm(4ft6") at 11yrs old, and all of their year group, (and most of the one below them) loom over them! Their best mate is 1 month older, is nearly 5ft6", voice has broken and already shaving!! M especially has it hard, as he is a bit tubby as well. He has been through problems with his prematurity, a lung mass (so has 1 lung now) chronic hypotonia probs and years of steroid therapy, so that has contributed to him being overweight. When the school nurse recently weighed him, she asked "what sort of diet are you feeding him", I said "the same diet I am feeding his ideal weight for height ID twin!", and so she then said "I wonder why M is overweight then!" DURRRR.
