Sorry for lack of posts - haven't been well.

Thank you for that dress link LVB :) Thankfully they have them in DD1 and DD2's sizes!

I can't believe you ladies are thinking about beds Shock - I cant bear the thought of having DTri's in beds... would just be one long game that lasted for hours! You are right though, I'm going to have to think about it soon....
I may even be super organised and start buying 'bed bits' for them so thats its not such a huge blow when we go out to buy beds, mattresses, pillows and bedding X 3!

I nearly had to skip past the potty training bit too.... my girls are growing up too fast! This also fills me with dread.. 2 out of 3 girls are keen-ish, so maybe I should start thinking about it soon. Emme still behind on that kind of thing really, but that's okay.

FWIW, I'm loving nursery days at the moment too - I think its all the crap weather making me miserable and I can't be bothered with doing much, so its nice having them being entertained at nursery all day :)

AtLongLast · 26/04/2012 22:45

God no. Please don't think I'm any sort of domestic goddess. It really couldn't be further from the truth. We've lived here for 11 years and still haven't decorated throughout. We put that err.. `interesting' colour on the lounge walls for a bet before we moved in and have never gotten round to finishing the edges off it will be white... We're having a real push just to get dd's room done & that's mainly down to taking turns in crowd-control at weekends, which does cut into family time a lot. .

I love those beds Lottie. I fancied white furniture for dd & dp finally gave in. Love our cot.... but lose the detailing due to the way it'll probably end up in the room. It is a cotbed though so should last & is nicer than the boys' as it will look more like a bed than..... a cot with the sides taken off. I really like proper height head / foot boards on beds.

We have similar with the boys snuggling in our bed after bathtime. Ds2 finally lets us tuck him in with a blanket. I seriusly doubted that ever might happen. Even when camping last yr we had to wait til he was fast aslep before daring to put anything over him. Ds1 loves being tucked in. Usually with a random toy (or today, a bit of pie he hadn't eaten at lunchtime Hmm) either side. & all have to be properly tucked in and goodnights said. Strange child Grin. They won't do pillows though but I guess that's not a bad thing.

I did lamb tonight but forgot that recipe! Did make the choc cake today. Haven't tried it yet but looks good!

The potty issue: do you think you need another for E, or multiple potties for multiple locations? We only have the one for now but both boys can be equally possessive over sitting on (though not using) it. Would hate to have to evict one boy for a pretend wee or vice versa so I'm thinking maybe 3 as a minimum? At least dd should never have an excuse for not having a potty nearby when she gets there....

OMG, so is there any cake left? I'm not sure I'll ever make it again, it was just too good... we couldn't stop nibbling at it until the cake tin was empty. What did you think, or have you been able to resist?!

I've just ordered two Baby Bjorn potty chairs and let them choose the colours in the vain hope it might help - yes, they're for multiple locations rather than different children.

Kate - yes, we've done just that, ordered the bedding stuff in advance of the beds and mattresses - even with just two children it all mounts up. No idea what they're going to make of the duvets, think they'll love them in theory but be terrified of them in practice. I guess we finally ought to invest in proper pyjamas too... at the moment I just put them in a long sleeved bodysuit and then in their sleeping bags. Gah, more stuff to buy.

Had Eve up vomiting half the night last night, poor poppet. She just kept saying "it's horrible, I feel horrible" :( She seemed okay this morning so took them to nursery, have just so much to do so hope she is okay there! We're off to see my new nephew tomorrow and I've volunteered to make a casserole type thing to take down, we have no food in the house and I've got about £15 in my purse and no credit cards. Ah well.

Last night the architect came over to show us her first drawings/plans for the work we're planning to do. All very exciting although we have absolutely no idea how we're going to get hold of the money...

AtLongLast · 27/04/2012 13:36

We've not had any yet (well, other than me licking the bowl/ spoon and scraping the sides of the cake tin after taking it out - all lovely). I did suggest we have some last night but dp (totally, totally uncharacteristically) said we should wait til it was decorated Shock Shock. Have just made some fudge covering so we'll have some tonight. I was good at lunchtime & resisted cutting it cos it's impossible to hide your sins with proper cake & opted for the last slice of lemon cake. I made it in part for the ILs this weekend but they can't come now so might have to make another for them coming next weekend instead...

How is Eve today? It's awful when you feel like you've got too much to do for them to be ill. I feel that way about my precious nursery days too.

GAH just lost enormous post. Was fascinating stuff abut potty training and separate rooms. Haven't had time to catch up properly but mwah will do so later xxx

PS mmmm cake

londonlottie · 27/04/2012 15:15

SEPARATE ROOMS! tarti - do tell more!

londonlottie · 27/04/2012 15:24

ALL - Eve is a bit better, I hope - at least I haven't been called by nursery yet. Off to make boeuf bourgignonne now, having put it off all morning.

Cannot believe you haven't touched the cake yet.

tartiflette · 27/04/2012 15:35

Must stress the separate rooms are hypothetical, not to mention imaginary at this stage since our house does not have the capacity (ie it's fucking tiny) Grin

londonlottie · 27/04/2012 15:43

Oh come now, you don't need actual bedrooms. Cupboards will do till they're about five, don't you think? Grin (I almost wrote "till they're about five, no?" until I remembered that I HATE SENTENCES WHICH END THAT WAY.)

We had Juliet waking up at 6.30am three mornings this week. I know I shouldn't complain about this but it's earlier than normal and wakes Eve up, who is then tired and grumpy all day morning. Even if that continued, I don't think I could ever convince either them or DH that they should be separated. If you separated yours do you think they'd object or is it too early for that?

KateShmate · 27/04/2012 17:18

Lottie (or anyone!) Have you found that your DD's have different sleeping preferences? Its hard to explain - but my DD1 and 1 of DTri's are proper 'early girls' - they have to be in same-ish time every night and will go straight down to sleep as so tired, and then up bright and early in the morning. But DD2 and 2DTri's are completely opposite - they will lie awake for ages, making all excuses etc, and then finally go to sleep quite a bit later, and then wake up quite late too.
Really, its a bit of a nightmare - DD1+2 share a room, as do DTri's, so there is an 'early bird' in each room to wake the 'late sleepers' up - so they never get the sleep they need!
Mine totally object to being separated.
When Emme was poorly she was in our room for a few weeks, and she quite liked it as we allowed her to have her later night and then lie in - but now shes back with other 2.
With mine, I don't think we could split them up without splitting them all up completely - i.e they all go in separate rooms, otherwise I think it would create a large amount of jealousy.

Chocolate cake sounds absolutely amazing - I would go back up thread and get the recipe but then I would make it and eat it all! And I've already eaten a whole packet of Mikado's today!

You've really given me a kick up the arse to get some potties! I will get on and order some - good idea with letting them choose colours Lottie

And beds too - want to find some really lovely bedding.. and beds! I was quite set on the IKEA white ones that extend as I just love them, but don't know if I might settle for some wooden ones.

londonlottie · 27/04/2012 18:14

Oh dear, I found these Cody beds earlier today and completely fell in love with them Confused

Kate - mine are relatively similar although for a long time we thought J needed less sleep than E. That switched round recently (not including this week's early starts!). It is a nightmare, especially when you've just dropped a nap and/or you know that the longer-sleeping one(s) are going to really struggle if woken up early.

londonlottie · 27/04/2012 18:17

Oh god, and also found these gorgeous cloud and star rugs here which are so cute. Must stop this, the internet is a terrible place!

AtLongLast · 27/04/2012 20:02

Haha - let's just say we've found a cake the boys will eat. A fine chorus of `more loclate cake Mummy'. Tis yummy though I did skimp a bit on chocolate cos my bar was 150g rather than 200g but don't think it really mattered in the end. Still have buttermilk left so I might do another but try doing it as a traybake & freeze it.

Our two pretty much wake up at similar times (6-6.30am) with one or other occasionally having an extra half hour. Ds1 is always ready for bed by 7pm though and is asleep in minutes. Ds2 can chatter away to himself for a while but is usually asleep by 7.30. We have it easy now but I suspect the transition will be awful.

KateShmate · 27/04/2012 20:04

Oohh Lottie where do you find these sites??

Love, love love for playroom or something

And the star ones are just gorgeous!

I went for all bright and mis-matchy things for DTri's nursery, so I think when we go into beds I'm going to redecorate with grey and either light purple (but not lilac) or a really deep purple like the dark star ones.

Just going off to raid that aspace website! Grin

One more note - look at these bedrooms - love the wall paper in top picture! Maybe will go for something like that, just wish I had the imagination!

londonlottie · 27/04/2012 20:12

:) Glad the boys like it!! Hmm, traybake idea - I like it. But can I be trusted??

Kate - lovely lovely lovely. Now I know I said I hated pink but thought this chair was nice for a big girls' room... Daisy Wingback Chair

Right, that's ENOUGH of drooling over stuff. I've put the girls down tonight, Juliet with a duvet and pillow (nothing to do with the fact I forgot to tumble dry the sleeping bag which got covered in puke, oh no...). They've been in bed for 45 mins and are still awake. A correlation I wonder..?

KateShmate · 27/04/2012 20:20

Ahhh I've just been looking at those and the Baby Chaise Longue's and wondering if I would be able to justify DD's needing one each?!!!

Totally unreasonable I know, but surely they could use them as beds too? Grin

I am just obsessed with this website!

Has she ever had a duvet before? I've never put mine in sleeping bags, and to be honest they would probably freak out a bit, so shes doing well so far! Hopefully a bit of chatting will wear them out and they'll suddenly drop off!

LaVitaBellissima · 27/04/2012 21:06

I love that chaise longue! I have always wanted one!

I have a smaller version of this in a violet light purple colour cheaper than this too, from my very last bonus Sad I miss bonuses

LaVitaBellissima · 27/04/2012 21:25

this is the small version I have it between the 2 cots Smile

LaVitaBellissima · 27/04/2012 21:27

here sorry that last one didn't work!

LaVitaBellissima · 27/04/2012 21:28

Ooh what is everyone doing for bank holiday weekend? We are going back to Cornwall, found a fab hotel and there is a great offer if anyone is interested? Twinsmeetup Cornwall?

londonlottie · 27/04/2012 21:34

That's gorgeous LVB - did you use it as a feeding chair?

And you know I can't resist - what's the hotel? We LOVED Cornwall!

KateShmate · 27/04/2012 21:37

LVB Thats a lovely nursery chair :) I've always wanted a chaise longue too, so maybe I could justify one in DTri's nursery!
Am really determined to decorate their room really nicely and properly think about it rather than just going for the 'usual' stuff. When I was doing their nurseries (they were supposed to be sleeping separately!) I loved decorating 3 completely different nurseries; and I suspect they'll be sharing for a long while yet so I want something that will last.

Not sure what we're doing for bank holiday yet - may go down to see family. Think I recall DH saying that he's got something planned - although am probably imagining that!

londonlottie · 27/04/2012 21:40

Me too Kate. If we go ahead with the planned work on our house, it means the girls will end up having the biggest double bedroom (currently ours, as we'll be moving into the attic space with an en-suite Grin) So they'll actually have room to have two decent beds and a bit of space to mess around. Suddenly I'm actually interested in what to get for their room because we're not living in a rented flat in Switzerland any more and they might not be in a small double with barely enough space for two toddler beds!

AtLongLast · 27/04/2012 21:48

Oh, I think you should take a chance on it just once Lottie. You could hide choc cake squares throughout the freezer to make it more difficult.

I'm not sure on chaise longues - they seem a bit.. dunno, unfinished? Or inflexible? Aargh, you've got me surfing Heals (& wall art) now though Lavita! I'm enjoying thinking about dd's room but I'm just useless at putting coordinated looks together. At least her room is having some thought / work, unlike the boys'. Maybe we'll be more successful when they want input though knowing ours we won't get away with anything less than the usual Thomas / Sam/cars/ dinosaurs

Our weekend plans seem to be as changeable as the weather at the moment. We were going to Wales next weekend but I think we have the ILs next weekend instead of this, FIL job permitting. I hope so cos I'm weirdly disappointed they had to cancel.

OP posts:
londonlottie · 27/04/2012 21:52

I'm too clever for those kind of tactics. I'd need to get DH to buy a new freezer and hide the actual freezer in order for the cake to stand a chance.
