Hair straightening

I have a 10yo dd and she had her hair straightened (with straightening irons) for the first time this weekend.
She loves it but I worry about how much it may damage her hair. It was done by a hairdresser on Saturday and she used a product on it. It already needs re-doing and it's only Monday! Does anyone have any experience of regular use of straightening irons on mixed race (Afro carribean/English) hair?

Are you planning to keep this as a permanent style? Because if so you should be thinking about why she feels better with straight European style hair than her own.

If it's just for a couple of times... how thick is your daughters hair and how tight is the curl?

Regular use of straightening irons will damage any type of hair.
