mongolian blue spot - what is it?

sil's baby has a big blue spot on his bum, is it that? will it go away? ta

lol. My dd has this too. Is he mixed race/black or of another ethnic origin other than white?

My dd is white/jamaican/chinese/antiguan and she has this mongolian blue back. It doesnt go away but will fade over time. Though it may stretch out too.

yes he's black/arab, I thought that's what it was. I suppose as he gets bigger the spot will seem smaller? Cool, she was a bit worried!

It seems to fade as the child grows and lays down fat in that area. Btw, my dd is caucasian but has a mongolian blue spot so who knows what genes are present in our families!

My god daughter is Caucasian too but has a big mbs on her bum.

Mongolian blue back is present in all races. Its is most commonly found in african babies.

It han be found in arounf 1% of caucasian babies. It is a darker pigmentation of the skin where the nuclei from the skin cells did not develop fully when baby was inside the womb.
