Mixed race hair cut

I must take my toddler to have a haircut! I’ve been doing it myself but it’s growing rapidly andits starting to look a little odd in some places as im
not very good and they won’t sit still.

Hair is a mix of super tight corkscrew / ringlets and loose curls but also gets more coily when running / really hot. Some parts are starting to stick up and outwards amongst the softer curls. Should I go to any hairdressers or a curly specialist or an Afro Caribbean hair dressers? Or a barbers?
Lost on where to go so appreciate any advice, thanks!

Depends if toddler is a boy or girl as some hair dressers are not trained as barbers. Not sure even one has the same training. I could be wrong.

Take them to an Afro Carribean hairdressers/barbers. Just be prepared to be there a long time!

Sorry for jumping on this, I’ve been wanting to ask this but thought it sounded Silly 🤪 , I have a mixed race son thats never wanted his hair cut (autistic) I can usually convince him for me to do it at home when it gets too long but since he’s getting older hes wanting it cut proper like other boys. Can he just go to any barber?

Check out the barbers in your local area and read the reviews looking for Afro hair recommendations. I took my oldest to a Caribbean barber for a bit, he was great at cutting hair but I couldn’t cope with the 4 hours it took to queue, wait for him to have lunch, etc etc.
We now go to a local barber and the lady who cuts it has kids with similar hair to my kids. She’s excellent and I can make appointments that take 30 mins each.

I took my son to Andrew collinge but he has a mix of loose ringlets and tighter coils with the crown of his head being waves. His hair is really fine so I didn’t feel like he needed an Afro/carribean barber. Andrew collinge did a great job.

I’ve just had a look at Andrew Collins but we’re down in London unfortunately. I have been told that he should be ok at a European hairdresser and not necessarily an Afro Caribbean one as they’ve got a mixture of curls. I’ve found a kids hairdresser that puts you in a kids car or fun looking seat so I think I’ll try that.

Thanks for the suggestion @nailslikeknives there is also a new local barbers run by a lady who has curly hair so I might ask her too as the kids hairdresser is so expensive!

I’ve been slowly snipping away but it’s definitely looking longer in areas and shorter in others so really needs a tidy up. I’ll make up my mind and go somewhere soon l! Thanks for all of your advice everyone. I’ll update if we ever get there ! X
