Evening showers

I've always showered in the morning , that has seemed very standard. For reference, I'm 60. But I've noticed that a lot of people seem to shower at night. This seems like a more recent thing to me but maybe it's always been common, and it's just that the Internet has allowed this to be more visible to me. What do people think?

I do both (not in the same day), depends what I have going on work/life wise. I showered yesterday AM then around 4pm today 😌

I'm an evening showerer

I'm 39

I do it because trying to get four kids up and read tin the morning and out by 7.45 is hard enough, let alone adding a shower into the mix.

Oh this is interesting, it seems I'm completely wrong! Maybe we think that what our childhood family did is the norm? Anyway thanks for all the replies.

80% of showers in our house are evening showers.

Grew up in a multi-cultural household and we always showered in the evening growing up.

Now I shower in the mornings because I work out at 5am so shower up before work.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 08/09/2024 04:00

Gotta shower off the day before getting into bed. 😀

DurhamDurham · 08/09/2024 04:13

I shower every morning before work. Literally takes minutes a a I brush my teeth while I'm in there to save time.
I have longish hair which I have to dry naturally so I shower three times a week on an evening as well so that I can wash my hair and let it dry before bed.

HoppityBun · 08/09/2024 05:05

We always showered in the morning in my family and I was surprised when I met someone who thought it was gross to go to bed not having cleaned off the day. But I do wash in the evening, I just don’t shower. I like to the night with a shower in the morning plus my hair looks better if it’s washed in the morning.

Mymanyellow · 08/09/2024 05:34

Shower in the evening. Wash the day away. Get into bed nice and clean. My hair takes ages to dry too so only do that maybe three times a week.

Er yeeeeah... do you get really dirty or something then? My private parts don't need washing everyday. And my feet certainly don't.

Everyone should bathe or shower daily, but wash their genitals as a bare minimum. How unpleasant.

CatherinedeBourgh · 08/09/2024 06:02

In my 50s. Shower in the evening.

Have occasionally gone through periods of showering in the morning, but mostly it's been the evenings. I've had times getting up at 4.30 am to take a flight at 6.30 on a regular basis, there was no way I was showering at that time (and disturbing dh) and I felt filthy by the end of the day, having been travelling all day. Ditto when I was doing jobs that got me dirty, no way could I have not showered after.

I do both, before bed and morning. If I've had a particularly sweaty day, maybe one when I come home at tea time and before I go out in the evening.

This and I’m 45. I don’t always wash my hair - that’s every other day - but I wash my body at morning and night, and sometimes in between as PP has outlined.

TerfTalking · 08/09/2024 06:10

DH showers in a morning, DS and DD shower in their own homes in an evening now, simply because they both work very long hours and are gone at least 12 hours a day so are sweaty at night, but they start very early and prefer the luxury of an extra ten minutes in bed in the early morning.

Me? I’ve finished working now so I can shower to suit my schedule but it’s often early afternoon on an average day when I get back from my long dog walk and want to wash away the mud, rain and Labrador smell.

whiteroseredrose · 08/09/2024 07:13

We are a family of morning showerers. Personally because it wakes me up.

Also, couldn't bear going to work and sitting close to other people anything other than clean and fresh.

I don't do a physical job so am not particularly sweaty at the end of the day. If I am, I will have a quick sprinkle before bed.

DH and DC like baths, and those are evening things. However they are more about relaxing than cleaning.

reluctantbrit · 23/09/2024 20:37

I shower in the morning. I need it to wake up (def not a morning person) and I feel gross after sleeping.

I also have short hair and look like I stuck my fingers into a socket first thing in the morning.

I tried showering in the evening and washing in the morning but it takes time and a shower is more efficient.

I sleep in underwear and night dress, wear socks all day so I am not too bothered going into bed unshowered.
