Understanding accents in general

I started a thread about DH not understanding my DM's accent but I thought it would be interesting on having a thread discussing accents in general.

I struggle to understand the broad Geordie or Scottish accents.

I really struggle with strong, scottish accents. I used to work in a call centre and if a scottish customer called up- most of the conversation would consist of me asking them to repeat, so embarrasing.
