au pair/ nanny type service

Hi All

Would like to ask for some advice.
I want to employ an au pair, or a nanny type service for my child (age 7)I am obvisouly looking for the usuall qualities in this person, respectable, crimanl checks, trustworthy, responsible etc. I would prefer a mixed race person/black to avoid the usuall negatives and ensure that it is a positive exp for my child. I would also like someone who would be prepared to do a little light house work hoovering and tidying of my childs room. Approx 30 hours per week and 2/3 evenings for about £300 p/month Have any of you any experiences to share, advice, comments please. Would you reommend an agency.

Esp for ScottishThistle I am aware that there are many au pair agencies out there but i would prefer to go by recommendation. My child is mixed race and the reason for my preference is to try to avoid the racial probs. Although I'm aware this would not be full proof.
