Autumn, glad your ds is home! I've got a Phil and Ted buggy which acts a double buggy. It is pretty bulky for a small person like me. But if you got two little ones,it doesn't take up a lot of space and very easy to push.

Welcome back momontherun.

Wyls, I'm afraid we didn't manage to go to the baby show. DP was busy working on the kitchen. Very annoyed though, as there were lots of bargains. Have a great time in Canada, so envious!

My ds is almost 7 months. He has just started to lift his bum and crawl a little bit.

teacakes · 13/03/2007 12:43

Congratulations Autumnlover! It makes me all broody thinking about newborns.

Minnie, glad to hear the scan went well. I loved scan days as they are so exciting.

Snowmum sounds like you managed to get more shopping done than me. I was ill for the first week and lost my appetite and could not sleep. Only managed to get 2 dvds for DD.

Loved it back in Hkg and want to go back again already.

Is there going to be a meet up soon??? I am feeling very lonely back here in a quiet village with no car or other local mums to talk to... bring out the violins...

trying2bgood · 13/03/2007 14:24

autumn - congrats, I cannot believe the time has flown by so quickly! How is life with 3? Goodluck with the double buggy search, I have heard great things about phil and ted's although it is pretty expensive. Feel all broody!

Sorry to everyone for being such an infrequent poster I just do not seem to have anytime, I don't know what I do with it!

snow - glad you had a lovely time, hope you got my message. My mum under my brother's supervision is hopefully buying me some decent dvds. To make things easy I have told her just stick to disney!

minnie - welcome and congrats, I live in west london acton, there seem to be a fair number of us in west london!

T2bg, yes got your message. Hope your mum has a successful shopping trip.

Teacakes, did look for you at Heathrow but didn't see you (mind you I don't know what you look like and thought I might get some weird looks if I went around the terminal muttering "teacakes?") Funnily enough (or not) I was also ill in HK. Fell ill on our last day which was a designated shopping day so I was a bit cross at missing out on that. Saw the doc who prescribed about a zillion pills of different colours (why do HK doc like their pills so much and why the rainbow colours??)

Autumn, congrats on bringing DS home. You're making us all feel broody!

Champagne, awww! DS starting to crawl! Hope you've child proofed. Nothing is safe anymore!

Meet up - do people want to go to Oriental City or Blue Kangaroo?

autumnlover · 14/03/2007 20:09

thank you for all your wishes ladies. it is nice to have him home, but things are still up in the area. he's got a weigh-in tomorrow afternoon and i'm praying that he's put on weight and then another jaundice test on friday. if his levels are still going up, then they'll admit him again for some more light therapy. i'm not sure thats the right course of action for him, as he had 2 sessions of light therapy whilst in special care and this levels still kept going up. i'm not sure a 3rd dsession is going to make that much difference. so i'm on tender hooks for the next couple of days

can i ask what are everyone else's experiences of jaundice - how bad and how long it took to go away??

many thanks

snowmum · 14/03/2007 22:45

Autumn, my DD suffered from jaundice when she was newborn. Can't remember what her levels were but they were high. We started single light phototherapy on Friday night, after 24 hours her levels were still going up so we moved to double light therapy (basically 2 sets of lights). By Sunday night her levels had finally dropped so we moved back to a single light. They continued to drop so we stopped light therapy on Monday morning. We had to wait 4 hours after stopping the therapy to see if her levels continued to drop. They did and we were discharged that afternoon.

She was kept under the lights continuously for 2.5 days except when she was being fed which was every 3 hours. I would bf then we would top her up with 1oz of formula as she needed extra fluids to flush out the jaundice.

In my experience the light therapy worked although it took a long time. Good luck Autumn!

champagne18 · 15/03/2007 10:09

Hi Autunm, DS also had jaundice when he was born, but we didn't notice it until the midwife pointed it out. Well, we just thought he had my skin tone. Midwife advice was to give him plenty of exposure to sunlight.

Two weeks later it was confimed that he had breastfeeding jaundice, but the jaundice didn't really clear up until he was 2 months old. But it really awful seeing two drips put through his hand when he had the bloodtest.

minniethemouse · 15/03/2007 16:20

hi girls..thanks for everyone.. i think we can meet up some time. sorry i cannot follow the thread up to date but i tried my best. Good news I told my bosses about my pregnancy i was so nervous and frighten because i joined them just a month a ago and to have my ML in six months. Blessed they are so happy for me.

Second thing is i managed to get my place at Queen Charlotte to give birth, honest i live close to Ealing Hospital. Due to some complication on my pregnancy, Ealing Hospital does not provide me the test i want. But QC does, i met the midwife last week, went well.

Third thing to share.. please visit the link for baby designer cloth sales....

www.juniorstylesales.co.uk/

My girl friends grap some good items last year in very attractive price - £10 for jacket. Good luck.. Girls.

MomOnTheRun · 16/03/2007 00:23

DS had jaundice when he was born. MW did not offer light therapy. Tried to keep him under sunlight through the windows but was not strong enough. It was only when his eyes had turned yellow at 3 weeks old that he was referred to the hospital. But he was just checked over and no light therapy. Luckily he was feeding ok then and the yellow colour just faded.

snowmum · 16/03/2007 13:43

Just received this from a friend and thought you guys would be interested. There's petition doing the rounds to try and Save Oriental City. If you would like to sign it, here it is

sunnywong · 16/03/2007 13:48

YOU WHAT !!!??????

Dh would take ds1 to Oriental City every weekend for his dose of culture, and to see the fish in that aquarium shop.

We will be signing for sure

champagne18 · 16/03/2007 14:53

Oriental City was on ITV london last night too!Did anyone watch it?

breadgirl · 17/03/2007 10:27

Yes, i saw it! Looks like it will be demolished despite reaching the 10,000 or so signatures required for the petition. Just don't know when it will be pulled down.
In a way, i think it's a good thing .. just hope a new food court will be built!
Wing Yip at Staples corner is really going to benefit. They're doing extention work to expand their supermarket and building a restaurant too .. think similar to their branch in Croydon.

autumnlover · 17/03/2007 21:18

hello everyone ...

just a quickie to let you know that Patrick is home now!! he did get admitted on thursday afternoon but everything is fine. no underlying condition to his prolonged jaundice so its likely to be breastfeeding related.

I can sigh a sigh of relief and start enjoying my little boy - who looks lovely if not tiny. although he gained 100g in 2 days - was 2.3kg on thursday and 2.5kg today!!!

thank you for posting your experiences of jaundice - they were really reassuring.

speak to you all soon. snowmum, will email you later on this week to sort out DVDs.

also got ourselves a phil & ted on wednesday - dh loves it more than me, but it certainly is handly and small.

champagne18 · 21/03/2007 14:52

Hi Autumn, glad to hear your little boy is safely home and that the jaundice is breastfeeding related. It's such a sigh of relief.

Glad you bought the phil and ted pram. Likewise, my partner likes it more than me but I'm sure you will get to like it! It does grow on you. Mine is blue!

autumnlover · 27/03/2007 20:35

Hi everyone!

we're a little quiet . how is everyone and what have you all been up to??

snowmum - can u email me. i didnt jot down the cost of the DVDs before dd1 opened them so i've no idea how much they were and dont have the envelope either. I'm happy to go with whatever figures you have. thank you again. its very funny watching Mulan sing in cantonese. even caught DD1 trying to sign along in cantonese!!!

did anyone see the news report on oriental city a few days ago. it really is disgraceful how its all being handled. how can big businesses get away with that kind of behaviour.

DH went back to work this week and its been hard but not too bad. its all very routined though which is a bit boring but everyone is still alive and girls had taken to ds really well.

wyls · 28/03/2007 11:59

Hello all

I am back from my holiday. We had a lovely time. Ate far too much and now need to go on a diet cos we are going to Portugal in May with the inlaws so I dont want to be sitting by the pool with my 6 bellies!!!

Autumn, glad to hear that your DS is well and you are all ok.

How is everyone else? Snowmum, Mumontherun and everyone else?

My DS is still copping with jet lag at the moment. He has been up at 230am every morning, screaming his head off. i think he wants to go back to bed and annoyed that he's up for no reason. Hopefully, he will be back to normal routine soon cos i am not very good with this waking up every morning.

He has also lost a bit of weight while we were on holiday. He hardly ate anything even though we have been eating like pigs. He seems to be back to his normal self as soon as we got back, so fingers crossed. He is back to wearing his 6-12 months trousers at the moment even though he is coming up to 2 yrs soon. Bless.

The weather is nice at the moment, i bet you are all out and about with your ds and dd. Enjoy and speak soon.

snowmum · 02/04/2007 15:57

Hi everyone, sorry not been on here for a while. Hope everyone is ok and making the most the good weather (when we get it!)

Autumn, glad to hear DS is home and jaundice on the wane. I will hunt up my notebook which had prices on it and email you when I do. Very pleased to hear that your DDs have taken to their new baby brother and that everyone is still alive!

Wyls, hope your DS gets over his jetlag soon. Sounds as though you had a fab hols to Canada.

Still no good news on Oriental City, a friend of a friend who works in law says that OC has lost their case and will be closed down. Shall we try for a big chinese MN mums get together before they pull it down?

autumnlover · 03/04/2007 20:32

thanks snowmum & sorry for my disorganisation!!

does anyone know when it will be closed down?? i'm up for a meet up. let me know when and i'll get DH to take a day off - he has loads of holiday to take and it'll be nice to just bring ds. i cant handle the 3 of them yet unless its to the park!!

wyls · 10/04/2007 12:26

Hi All, I am up for the meeting up too, i cant believe that they are really going to pull the whole thing down.

We have got a chinese mini market and a couple of good chinese in southend but not the same as oriental city. I am going to miss that so much.

Anyway, my wireless link at home has died so cant get on the internet as much as before. I am trying to get it fixed. a nightmare really.

Hope you all had a nice weekend and speak soon

Wyls

This is the online petition to save oriental city.

please sign it if you have a mo.

Speak soon

trying2bgood · 19/04/2007 09:20

autumn - unfortunately, big business gets away with everything and anything in the name of 'it will provide jobs and opportunities for regeneration' blah blah blah! I only ever went to oriental city once as we always lived much closer to china town, but still think it is such a waste and also a blow to the chinese community in the area. Do we all really need anothe b&q?

Hope all is good, we went away to spain and ramsgate. We had a lovely time but it rained pretty much everyday in spain which put a dampner on things! LOL!

MomOnTheRun · 19/04/2007 23:00

It's such a shame really. I will have to go a lot further for ds's "triangle". He calls the roast pork puffs "triangle". Bless him.

Hopefully not much further as the Wing Yip supermarket down the road is extending. I think there will be a restaurant plus other shops.

wyls · 24/05/2007 10:01

Hi Everyone

How are you all? Have you all been very busy? It's been so so quiet here.

We got back from portugal last Sun. We had a lovely week, spending most of time relaxing, shopping, eating and swimming. We found a local fish market near our villa and ended up bbq fish/seafood almost every night. It's just nice to be able to spend the time with my DS and the family. (we went with my DH's family)

But that's it now, we dont have anymore holiday planned for this year.

What has everyone been up to?
