Ok I am asking other mummy's.. what is your next day hair routine with your little one's?

My daughter's hair is hard to describe, but super tight curls (pencil size) but fine and easy to comb with a tendency to dry out and frizz and go puffy.

After the conditioner only comb through in the bath, I have been putting mixed chicks leave in conditioner. This works great...that is until she goes to sleep and wakes up the next morning.

Currently I spray some detangling spray and try to re form individual curls with my fingers but it takes forever.

What spray/refresher do you use? Do you comb it through completely? What if there are tangled spots or frizzy spots? Please send me your next day products. thanks.

hey, ok have you tried having her sleep on a satin pillow case? that really does help prevent tangles. what i like to do is spray some clean water on the hair then add something like an oil or hair butter. my 1st choice is morrocan oil but i also like this range called 'roots2ends' they do a childrens hair butter (all natural based products) also another good product is by inecto and its their coconut oil leave in conditioner. but definantly try the satin pillow :)

do you just leave it out? i tried big twists last night but didnt really help. i mean hair was super soft, but the style was kinda funky.

I use mixed chicks too but I find it goes a bit sticky ? And with 3 girls the bottle at £9 doesn't go very far :( I also think finger combing is best as the ends break easily .

Bought in Caribbean but discovered that I can buy here as well... I just put plenty on my palms and then gently brush through.

OP my DD has the same hair as your DD from the sound of it.

I wet her hair every morning and apply a little conditioner. While it is damp I use my fingers to comb it through. If she is going out I put it up in a hair band as a protective style.

Have you trimmed her ends before?

I trimmed my daughter recently for the first time in a year. My daughter and I have very similar hair and trimming the ends is essential to avoid the dry brittle ends carrying up the hair.

I also wash her hair once every two to four weeks with a SLS free shampoo from Holland and Barrett to clarify it and remove build up. Build up can be just as bad for some mixed hair as using shampoo too frequently.

I do loose plaits at night to stop the tangles and also seems to stop it flattening.

Any tips on brushes??? Can u top a tangle teezer???

I think a tangle teezer causes more breakage , a good old fashioned afro comb starting v gently at the ends and working up to the root in small sections

Why dont you go on the British curlies website as lots of people on there can you you hair advice there is a forum. Or if your feeling brave enough go into a Black hair salon so that they can advise you on how to do your childs hair.

Not great doing French plaits but our CM Diesnt mind doing it for us.

If hair is out I wet in the morning using a spray bottle with water conditioner mix and a few drops of tea tree oils. And then a quick brush.

My 3yo is fierce and hates it. 6yo much better.

I must get some satin pillowcases.

Over here people tend to use coconut oil before swimming and washing and on the ends.

I have tried coconut oil and various other oils on my girls hair, but find it tends to be quite drying - which is strange.

Macademia oil was recommended for hair and I brought a large bottle - it is quite good. But then I got paranoid about using it due to unknown people they might come into contact with who have nut allergies. So it is just languishing now.

Can anyone recommend a hairdresser in West London who know/specialise in mixed race curly hair?
