Any Chinese (Mandarin speaking) mums in SE England?

Hi there, I'm a Chinese mum living in Hart (North Hampshire). Wondering if there are other mandarin speaking mums in the area (including SW London) who would like to meet up, as I'd like to encourage DD to speak mandarin. She's only 7 months, though never too young to start Grin

Hi Rainbow! We are in west London (Ealing area). I speak Mandarin to DS1 and DS2. Not sure how realistic it is to meet up, but it would be nice!

Grin Ealing's not that far away. How old are your DS1 and DS2? We could meet up in a dimsum restaurant somewhere first? What do you think? Or a sushi restaurant. I know 2 which are sort of half way between us.

London Hong Kong for dim sum

Oisi for sushi

Hello Rainbow!

London HK is one of our favourites!

DS1 is 6 and DS2 is 4. DS2 starts school next week so we are not as free as before. Sad

We were just there over today! Your DS's are about the same age as a friend on mine's. We should definitely meet up.

I'm at work full time anyway so it'll have to be a weekend. Sometime in October?

The one you go to is London HK in West Drayton right? Not the one in London.... :)

The London HK at Heathrow. Right?

I'm also working part-time, but DSs in school full time. So I guess it will have to be a weekend meetup. Can I message you?

rainbowweaver · 21/09/2010 23:01

Yep that's the one.

I think I've enabled it, but give me a ping here in case it doesn't work....

Hi, I live in St.Albans, Hertfordshire, my DS is 15 months old. Have been asking/searching around other Mandarin Chinese mums/toddlers around my area without any sucess so far. Very frustrating!!

UptoapointLordCopper · 14/10/2010 20:08

Murano - it does seem quite hard to find other Chinese mums. I found that > netmums sometimes have Chinese families lurking about too. Also see if you can find Chinese schools near your area - bound to be able to find some Chinese people there! Let me look for the link for Chinese schools ...

Oops. Doesn't work.

Try this.

Thanks UptoappointLordCopper, good advice. I did search and found there is a chinese school in Hamel Hampstead which is very close to where I live. I think there is a Chinese community here in St.Albans, but most are from HK and speak very little Mandarin.

Hi Muranoglass,

I have been searching Chinese mum as well. My daughter now is 1 year old and I am a full-time mum at the moment. We live in Golders Green which is not that far from St. Albans. If we can find somewhere in between to meet up, that will be great. Say Edgeware???
