Starting my own business? Where do I start?

So thats it. I'm a complete novice and no-one I know owns their own business.

I've got the idea - but no idea of where to start looking for information on how to start up, what I need to know.

So I thought I'd be cheeky and see if some wise soul would point me in the right direction of good information for complete novices?

Tia.

This isn't a bad link for the basics. It may be a good idea to book some time with a small business advisor at a bank. They can walk you through how to forecast costs/expenses which is useful if you will need to borrow money to buy capital equipment or premises.

Business Link is the best place to start. Read everything there, and use the links at the top to find your region and look for the Start Up Workshops.

This Topic on Mumsnet is a good place to ask questions.

Ah now I didn't see that mranchovy.

Thanks for that. I think I've got a lot of reading to do. Start up workshops would be exactly what I need.
