My ex is trying to contact me about an old utility bill from our old house, we sold the house 5 1/2 years ago and i met up with him about 4 years ago to pay half of an old water bill and he's still trying to chase me for a supposed gas bill.

Not sure what to do, this ex cheated on me several times and was physically abusive.

I've moved on with my live i'm married with a baby.

I dont know how long untility bills can chase you for? I dont even know if its true.

All the bills were in his name so my name is not on the bill.

are you able to ask for a copy of the bill or - perhaps better- contact the utility company directly and find out if a balance still owed. If I were you I'd personally try and find this out directly from them, and discuss repaying half or explain the situation just so you can move on? I'm glad you have moved on by the way, so sorry and sounds like good to close this so he no longer contacts you about it. I don't know how long utility companies chase money up for though
