Approved for a loan, now they have asked me to pay an admin fee, is that normal?

My dp had applied for a credit card online and was refused. Then a few different companies called him offering him loans.

One company offered him a loan and said he needs to pay an admin fee of £50 then will recieve the money within 3days.

Is this normal practise?

The company is called citifinancial.

Any info would be great, or if you know how i can find out if the company are ok to use or not will be great.

I'd be very suspect of any company soliciting loans over the phone when you haven't applied to them. There is a company called Citifinancial attached to the CitiGroup (reputable bank) but anyone can say anything over the phone. Has he had paperwork? I'd be doing everything I could to check them out before handing over a penny.

You might want to read this link.... Citifinancial Says they're not offering new loans to new customers.

I would be really wary of handing over any payment details to a company who had cold called me. Worst case scenario - how does he know its citifinancial? I'd be at admin fee
