Am going mad trying to find out info on Gov websites,if anyone can help id be so grateful.Ok, i live in house bought with ex partner.Mortgage is in his name,but house is in both names.He rents with gfriend.I earn £9000pa,my partner who i live with has just lost job,will he or us be entitled to any HB whilst he is looking for work?

short answer - no.

The best you could try for would be mortgage interest (or whatever it's called these days), though I'd imagine it would be based on yours and your DP's joint income. And iirc, mortgage relief takes about three months to start coming in - ie DP will need to be jobless for that length of time to apply for it.

You can't get HB as neither you nor your DP are renting, and if your DP claimed it and they found out he is your DP and not a lodger, then that's fraud. (Contrived tenancy / living together would be the official classification)
