Government Stamp Duty on CC

Just looking at my bill as I thought I had paid it all of and there is 27.00pounds government stamp duty!! anyone know what this is for I have never noticed it before but then I am bad and usually just check the total and not whats on it!!

Have you moved to Ireland? If so the Government charges an annual tax on credit cards at 30euros

Pandasam, how on earth did you know that I was in Ireland!! I am in Ireland. I didnt think it would be charged on my card though as its a UK one but I have recently changed the address to Ireland. Have to give them a phone later and double check!!

Lol, because it happened to a friend of mine when she moved to Ireland!

It seems to be a standard tax in Ireland for credit cards from other countries.
