How much do you think you spend every month on everything except mortgage / rent / council tax?

I have been keeping a spending diary since the start of the year and despite thinking I am being quite careful with money I am spending way more than I thought I did every month! I have realised I am spending about £1400 after we pay the mortgage, so that includes childcare, food, car and essentials plus only a few treats.

I think that's a lot so I'm wondering how I can cut back on that especially as our child care costs are about to increase? What do you think you spend a month?

About £750 - including CTax, but not car, and only a small amount on nursery fees. We're a family of 4.

I don't even want to think about it. Childcare here for 1 costs over £1200 a month!

we spend about £1500 and that doesn't seem much!!
That's all bills, car/house/life/pet insurance, mobile phones, children's activities, food, clothes etc

We are a family of 5 plus 1 cat and 1 dog.
Though fuel is a big expense for us as dh has such a long commute into work. That alone costs us £150/month and he has to pay for parking at work which costs about £70/month.

are the figures you are all quoting for your whole family? The £1400 is quoted is from my own purse, ie half the bills, food, nursery etc with DH putting in the other half so does that mean we are actually spending nearly £3k a month as a family?! OMG!!!!!!

I don't work and we only have one bank account so yes that is the whole amount!

wish I had the 3k to spend but then I don't work so that's why!!
