Can anyone just tell me how much gross wage I would need to earn to take home £19,000.00 pa

You'll need to fiddle about with it a bit as it uses net pay as the input figure.

Sorry, gross not net, and it looks to be c. £25k with no pension deductions (the figs for tax are 2008 though)

Actually having just tried it, I don't understand that site.
If I put in £25,000.00 it just comes out on the right at the same-£25,000.00.
What am I missing.

You need to read the bottom line - top line on the right is the same as your input figure (ie gross salary), then it shows your deductions in the columns and the second from bottom line is take home pay.

Does that make sense?

You can put £19,000 net pay into this calculator and you don't have to fiddle about - £24,748 is the answer (in 2009/10).
