Help! Last minute tax return advice

Would anyone be able to help with a last minute tax expenses question?

We bought my laptop during the year ended April 09 using dp's personal debit card, not our joint account, so my name is not on the receipt. I use it for work - he has his own.

Can I claim it as an expense or will HMRC regard this as fishy/not on (in the unlikely event that they investigate me)?

Any advice or opinions very gratefully received.

DH is an accountant and he said you should claim for it.

Were you to be investigated, they may question it but you can show that your DP has his own laptop - and all your work will be clearly visible dating back to the appropriate time on yours.

Worst case would be that you'd have to pay the extra tax if they're not happy with it but this would be very unlikely.

HTH!

I would claim(I'm an accountant) if it's a business expense for you and you can prove that, regardless of who paid, it should go down.

Thanks very much both - that's very helpful
