If you apply online for credit cards and get turned down does it effect your cedit scoring?

yes, it's likely to.

the credit record will reflect that the person applied and was rejected, which makes them an unattractive option for other lenders.

The application will show up as a footprint, but won't show whether it was accepted or rejected.

As long as you dont have 3 or more footprints in a six month period it shouldn't adversely affect your credit score.
