My 2 teenage DSs have cash card accounts with Nationwide which works ok. They can't go overdrawn.

nationwide -they get a cash card at 11 years old

i put pocket money in by standing order and so does my dad- its up to dd what she des with it.

DD has one with HSBC - has debit card. She was beside herself when I opened it for her (October).

She now manages her own money, dd £20 per week which is her bus/school dinner money for a week and every month she has £60 allowance which goes in on my pay day. She has to buy all her clothes, cinema, bowling out of that. Think it is working pretty well.

GetOrfMoiLand · 25/01/2010 19:41

Brad think you can have just a cashpoint card to get money from ATM, you can only have debit card at 13 iirc.

BradSplit · 25/01/2010 20:20

coo goml thats a lot of cash
ds1 (11) is getting £4 a week( does recycling and laundry moving)

Mine just have the cash point card, not the debit card.

Katymac · 25/01/2010 20:25

Natwest & the Debit card can be used at the Post Office/cash machines too

Debit cards by implication can be used to buy things in shops if they have the money in the account

DD is 12

BigBadMummy · 25/01/2010 20:26

DD1 got a debit card with Barclays at 13.

BradSplit · 25/01/2010 20:28

thanks a lot everyone
will send ds1 along to get a leaflet tomorrow

Anyone know what the minimum they can get out at the cashpoint is? (ideally would want one that can do £5 as I am mean like Brad and only give dd £5 a week - obv could do £10 every fortnight if necessary)
