Maestro payment made 3 weeks after paid..

I paid for some petrol with my maestro card on the 22nd December, I have just checked my account and they have just taken funds today. I though a maestro payment was instant, can they do that? TIA

Maestro isn't instantaneous - it usually takes a few days to debit your account. 3 weeks seems a long time, I guess someone messed up at the station - do check that it hasn't come out twice! If it hasn't, then yes they can do this -they have 30 days to request the cash.
