Psst! I am entitled to some housing benefit. Wanna help me spend it?

So having dropped £1000 a month by reducing my hours because of DS's problems (Dyslexia, dyspraxia) it suddenly occurred to me today that I might get some housing benefit so I rang them. After a few questions and some quick calculations on the phone it turns out I am entitled to........... £5 or so a month. Wow!

Am grateful really as it's a struggle every single month at present. Young lad on the other end of the phone asked if I wanted to bother - but yes I do as I dread the cat being ill - and if she is - and I am in the receipt of housing benefit (even if it is only a fiver)I can use the PDSA clinic.

It will also pay a week (well 3 days) almost of the school breakfast club on the days I work

I think I'm more impressed that you actually got through to someone on the phone! Or maybe it's just my council that's shite at answering calls.

Like you say though, it's not much but it's a usefull passport to other concessions.
