i have been so stupid and i dont know what to do. I had some petty cash expenses to bank at work and I stole £30 of it. I cant even believe I am typing this but I did take it, i meant to pay it back but didnt. Now the treasureer has realised the money is missing. I feel sick. If I could pay the money back I would but she knows its gone now. She thinks its a probelem with the petty cash. I dont know what to do. I feel so awful and sick about it I cant believe I did it.

please please help.

bleat - glad your problem is sorted out and hope you don't go there again!

Interesting disagreement about the nature of honesty. Mud, I cant imagine why you think bleat should fess up at this stage. Yes, there is the death of Socrates argument (if you accept to live in a society, you should abide by its rules. Socrates believed this, and he accepted a death sentence imposed by his countrymen, rather than flee the country). But even Socrates waited until he was arrested. He didn't break the laws and then go looking for his punishment!

As laws are made by and to protect people with money, the penalty for stealing it tends to be fairly harsh. To put it in a nutshell, many rich and powerful people are getting away scot free for crimes like murder in today's unjust world. When George Bush and Donald Rumsfeld submit themselves for trial, bleat should go to her employer and confess!

btw, I didnt think hulababy's posts were out of line at all.
