Id really like a room converted downstairs but itll prob cost about 3000/4000 ish. We dont have that sort of spare cash and i could do with the xtra room sooner (pregnant ) so i was wondering in the current climate could i say offer him 500 per month to do a bit when he can . Surely 500 a month guaranteed income is better than not having the work ?
I suppose the other option to to just save -just wondered x
Do builders allow such arrangements ?

I'd just save - it would only take you six months or so then you could do it over the summer - most builders probably wouldn't want to commit to a certain amount of work a month in case a longer term project came up. Also would you want to be living with a half finished room for months on end?

My ex bil just agreed to do it for 2500 !
