Suspended sentence

I'm following a case and have a few questions.

A suspended sentence has been given for a drug offence, on the undersanding that the person has to undertake a drugs/alcohol course and remain on good behaviour for sometime after.

How strict are the authorities in ensuring that the conditions are not breached?

Do they do regular drug testing on these courses? What happens if they fail their drug test?

Is this seriously monitored or is is considered a stroll in the park for the offender?

Thanks

The authorities are very strict and the person will be taken back to court and sent to prison if they do not abide. Yes they do regular strictly monitored drug tests to. If they fail their test it depends on the conditions given as to what happens, but I wouldn't recommend trying it! It is definitely not a stroll in the part for the offender it is a very intensive course. Hope that helps.

It sounds like you are referring to a Suspended sentence supervision order, which would be supervised and enforced by the probation service.

The conditions would have been imposed by the sentencing court and should be tailored to the individual and his circumstances, so you would need to know exactly what conditions were attached to the Order to know if he is in breach.
