Am about to negotiate selling fees with a high street estate agent.

What do I strive for? Am thinking 1.5% but has anyone got below that?

We got ours down to 1% but that was at the height in August 08.

Was it a high street estate agent or an independant?

We are paying 1.25% and that is without any negotiation.

Fimbo · 09/06/2009 13:46

Independant.

Spaceman · 09/06/2009 13:57

Really mumof? Again, is it chain or independant?

1%. But we made it clear that we were getting all 3 of the major local agents in to do valuations.

They all asked what the others were charging and offered a lower figure.

I would have thought that 1.5% is a little high - would try and go for 1 to 1.25% if possible. I think the key thing is that they are on Rightmove as this seems to be the key way of marketing these days

Best of luck

0.8% woohoo. but we were buying from the agent and had bought from them before

VoodooApocalypse · 10/06/2009 13:23

we're on 1.5% with no negotiation. think agent have increased fee now for new customers to cover higher costs.
