Anyone ever part-exchanged property for a new build?

Just wondering how much under the market value builders give you for your house if you part-exchange. And does it speed up the whole process by a lot, or is it only worth doing if you're having trouble selling?

All hypothetical at the mo but we may have to do a house move in a short timescale over the summer and I wondered if it was worth considering.

We did this a few years ago, and it made the whole process quick and easy. Our house was valued by 3 local estate agents, the builders averaged the totals and offered us that. Job done!! We were sold and moved in 5 weeks!!!!

Thanks for that, that's really helpful. That sounds like a good option then.

Think it depends on what you are trying to sell. We had a flat sale which fell through just as the house we wanted was being finished off (chosen tiles and flooring etc). Because the flat was older style (1960's), in need of modernisation and therefore not so desirable despite its excellent size and location they weren't interested in it at all. Seem to remember up to 10% less than valuation being suggested even before we got into details, but that was 10 years ago.
