How do I dispose of a canister of CS gas?

I've had a canister of CS gas in my posession for about 10 years - someone brought it back from the US when I was living in a rough part of London! It fits on a keyring. I don't really want to have it around any more, but I don't know how to dispose of it. I can't really walk into a police station and hand it over, can I? What should I do?

What an excellent thread title...

I would imagine that the only safe way to get rid of it is to hand it in, tbh. You could always say you found it if you're worried.

Just a stupid question though, is it still dangerous after 10 years? I genuinely have no idea, is it something that expires or lasts forever?

What even the latest round of pre electioneering Tories haven't driven you to use it
