if wherabouts of a beneficiary of a will unknown

if the address of a beneficiary is unknown and can''t be contacted by phone either what do you do?

try to find them by advertising in local papers if you know roughly where they live. there are companies that find beneficiaries, but they charge a % of the amount so will probably only take it on of it is a largeish sum of money speak to a solicitor they will probably have dealt with this kind of thing before?

You can also take out Insurance against a 'lost' beneficiary turning up later. NOT cheap, and you have to take all reasonable steps to find them, but if Cousin Bob suddenly pops up a year or so late, at least you will have some redress.

Do you have a probate solicitor? They should be able to sort everything ot for you.

well at first there was a contact number for the beneficiary but now the benefeciay doesn't want to know, was asked for an address, wouldn't give one and has now stopped answering calls
