Can you get change when spending JL vouchers ? dh has had some through work but they are £50 denominations. I remember we used to get change at Waitrose but were using £10 vouchers so it wouldn't have been much.

I did not think you could get change from vouchers. You can only try asking I suppose.

Boy! I wish I had some £50 JL vouchers! I could easily spend them

I think they will give cash change for small amounts and possibly give you lower denomination JL vouchers for the remainder - would ask DS2 who has a Saturday job there, but he is out.

ah change in vouchers wouldn't be a problem.

John Lewis do give you change from vouchers. We were given them as wedding presents and there is no problem spending small amounts and getting cash as change. They didn't give us more vouchers instead.

You can get change in vouchers if they choose not to give you change in cash - although IME (not with £50 vouchers) JLP seem to be very relaxed about giving change in cash.

of work vouchers - or are they salary sacrifice ones like mine?

GorgonsGin · 09/04/2009 11:57

DSis works for JL and confirmed they give change and so do Waitrose.

LIZS · 09/04/2009 11:57

We used to get salary sacrifice ones but cancelled them when we moved away from the branch of Waitrose These ones were via a "reward" scheme for completion of a particular project.

Waitrose give change for vouchers, M & S give change on an M & S card but Sainsburys don't give change at all. I therefore find I never get round to spending the sainsburys vouchers as I tend to pop in for the odd thing under £10 and do the main shop at Waitrose.

My DH gets these vouchers through a scheme at work. Portion of salary given in vouchers.

Better to have £50 vouchers than the same amount in £5 vouchers. If I pay for a £100 waitrose shop with £5 vouchers it takes ages for them to process the vouchers and the people waiting behind in the queue get very impatient!
