Hmm tricky one. I tend to budget around £200 per week per adult on a half-board basis - but I like the high life shopping and days out. The euro isn't as good as it used to be either .

kentmumtj · 07/04/2009 12:50

i to enjoy eating out and having fun
and ye the euro isnt good at mo

Why don't you work out how much you can afford to save per week/ month if you pull your belts in for the next few months (say you can save £100 a month) then set up a standing order into an isa account so then by the time your holiday comes whatever is in that account (£400 for eg) is what you can take on your hols then split that amount into
£xx for food
£xx each to spend on what you like and
£xx for day trips/ joint treats like ice creams/ fairgrounds whatever?

kentmumtj · 07/04/2009 12:52

see i am thinking the reverse have a figure then save that amount every month plus its only 4 pay days til hols

Or do that

How much do you want to spend?

Simplysally · 07/04/2009 12:56

How much would you spend on groceries etc at home for 17 days? That should give you a heads-up for the minimum to aim for - I'd at least double that .

kentmumtj · 07/04/2009 17:43

hmmm think im gonna need more than i spend on groceries i spend about £150 a week so if i was to double it im looking at £300 and i think i need much much more than that

So for 17 days you'd be spending between £300-400 on food and so on?

I'd double that just for a start - depends really how much you can spare each month to put away .

we managed to go through on adverage £200 a day in paris last year for the 4 of us(we were there for a week)

it was petrol, road tolls and food that was the killer for us. we actually took packed lunches most days but everything was so bloody expensive.

on top of that we did have disney tickets, and admission to all the paris attractions but i could not believe how quick our money went.

i had only taken £1000 spends but thankfully my mum had lent me her credit card in case of emergencies.

Portoeufino · 08/04/2009 11:21

I usually about budget 200 euros a day, so for my 17 day holiday in SOF this year, I am banking on 2500 euros. That's self catering too though. But part of the fun of being on hols is eating out, and not having the hassle of cooking and clearing up.

Portoeufino · 08/04/2009 11:22

PS I hardly go out the rest of the year, and am always so busy, I like to splurge and chill out to the max on holiday.

kentmumtj · 10/04/2009 11:57

think i was thinking around the £2500 - £3000 mark i just kept saying to myelf it seems loads but i guess when your there its never enough
