PayPlan can't help - what else can we do?

DH has contact Payplan to try to get their halp with repating back debts but they have said that they can't help as our income is too low to have anything left after basic living expenses which can be offered to the creditors.
Is there anyone else we can try?

If Payplan have refused you then there is CCCS. But if they have said there is no leeway they are usually correct. Did they suggest bankruptcy at all. Another option is a self managed DMP. But these are difficult to manage as you will have to cut your outgoings to the bone and the likelyhood of the firms stopping interest is small.

CCCS

Debt free wanabe on MSE. Good for help on DMP's etc.

Bankruptcy and living with it on MSE.

Thanks, MrsGokWan. They suggested DMP, but, as you say, I don't think it's possible.
Thanks for the links - we shall try CCCS, but I think after that DH will speak to the National Debtline and it'll be bankruptcy for him.

Try speaking to the CCCS- they might be able to suggest an alternative (perhaps an IVA), as it is true, the creditors won't accept payment plan proposals from you unless they are confident you can also meet your basic living costs.

Bear with me- I'll find you some contact details.

Lol. I think if Payplan are saying they can't help, I suspect CCCS will say the same, but we will give it a go anyway.
Bankruptcy is more preferable to us than in IVA.

Christians Against Poverty CAP will help you go through bankruptcy if they can't help you sort your debts out any other way.

that's great, cargirl, thank you. I think DH would really appreciate their help.

CAP are have quite a good reputation for supporting people through bankruptcy. I know 2 people whom they have helped.

If you do not have enough funds for a DMP then you definatly won't have enough for an IVA and creditors are starting to refuse even 40 to 50p in the £1 now.

Ring CCCS or as mentioned National Debtline
www.nationaldebtline.co.uk/. Be aware that they are really busy at the moment and people have been reporting that they have been on the redial button for up to half an hour before getting through, so be patient. Obviously there is CAP as well.

If you pop on to the MSE bankruptcy board, they can help and support you through the process and answer any questions you have.
