Alos if I want to get a new deal should I do it now before I finish work?

Putting aside the 'will you be able to pay your mortgage' question - you don't have to tell that you will be made redundant. It's up to you to service the loan - they made an estimation of risk when they gave you the loan - their only interest now is you continuing to pay the mortgage.

You will find now it's hard to get a new deal but if you do, they do take references from work and your employer may well rat you out. Sorry!
