How long does it take to sort out debit card fraud?

I discovered this morning that someone has taken over £300.00 from my bank account using my debit card on a gambling website (10 transactions of around £30.00). I?ve phoned up and reported it to my bank, who?ve stopped my card and made a fraud report, but the woman on the phone couldn?t tell me how long it would take to sort out, just that the fraud department would be in touch. I wondered if anyone has any experience of how long it takes for these things to be sorted out and how long before you get your money back?

Thanks!

I know a few people this has happened to and they got their money back in about 5-6 weeks.
It also happened to me a few years ago and it took me 10 months to get my money back, with alot of help from the financial Ombudsman.

happened to me and they were able to put a stop on a pending transaction. real pain waiting for the new card. Then had to fill in a form explaining circumstances and iirc money refunded in about a month
Good luck - its a real pain isn;t it

I got the money back in just over 4 weeks. (was about £600).
My bank took the details over the phone, i had to fill in a form, i went into the branch for that bit because it was quicker and then the money came back to me.
IIRC the way it works is that the bank give you the money back and then claim it from the retailer who allowed the fraudulent transcaction.
