anybody help my friend wants to put an offer on a property she really wants but hers has not sold yet ? she has had interest and it will sell but she doesnt want to lose the property she is looking at.
How does this work ?
how long til you pay for the new property ?
do you get a survey done after you put in the offer ?
Thought I would get some easy to understand answers here before I try anywhere else

She can put an offer in, but the seller may not accept if your friend is not in a position to proceed.

It's up to the seller, if it was me I probably wouldn't accept the offer as your friend isn't proceedable or I would want my house to stay on the market, once hers was sold I would remove it.

Agree with mankyscotlass - they may not take it off the market as they have no garuntee your friend will get an offer anytime soon.

Having said that they may not get another offer either.

what about the survey on the property she wants to buy?
before or after putting in the offer?
thankyou for your answers.

I wouldn't pay for a survey before an offer was accepted and house off the market.

No point making an offer until you have an offer on yours. It would be meaningless.

I don't think you can do a survey unless you put an offer in - at least I can't imaging that anyone would let you inside to survey their house unless you had offered to buy it!!

You can make an offer before yours is even on the market and you can ask them to stop others viewing the property but it is up to the seller if they agree to that. Since the market is not good at the moment, they might consider it - especially if your friend can convince them that her place will sell easily.
