I've just realised that I probably could've claimed MA when I had DD2 in Feb 2007, is it way too late to claim it? I expect it is but it's worth asking isn't it?

I'm afraid so. They don't make retrospective payments and the latest you can start getting paid is the day after you baby is born. Sorry.
