am thinking of getting the ball rolling before our new baby arrives - anyone know if most banks close your account if claim is successful?

They might close your account so it's a good idea to open another bank account before persuing charges. Moneysavingexpert.com gives advice on this.

my guess is that they would close the account, what does moneysavingexpert.com say. I've also recently been told of a site that helps to reduce credit card balances if the agreement was entered into before 2007 - if you're interested I will dig out the details.

yeah, I have another current account open already

re credit cards - thanks but I don't have any, thank God

Me too.

They've since given us two mortgages, so can't be all that annoyed with us...

But it can't hurt to have a 'parachute' account set up.

Mine paid up and didn't close my account.
