Just wondering if anyone could help me?

If you make a claim to get financial aid from an ex partner from the CSA,and then you decide you want to stop the claim, can you then make the claim again later?

According to my mum me brothers 2 ex's have put in a claim then decided to stop the claim. She says that neither of them will be able to get any money from him at any point in the future.

Is that right? Can't believe that but have never having claimed it i don't know.

TIA

You can reopen a claim at anytime. One of the problems we had when it looked like she wasn't going through with the DNA test was that she could go back anytime she liked. HTH

No thats not right - they can claim at any time while the child is still at an eligible age.

The "Parent With Care" i.e the parent with the child benefit book who has the majority of overnight staying contact (because that is all that is used to determine who can receive child benefit) can close a CSA claim at any time.

They can re-open or make a fresh CSA claim 16 weeks or later after the previous claim has been closed. This was under CSA rules which MIGHT have changed slightly as CSA has transmogrified into C-MEC, although the 2 schemes are broadly similar.
